I'm flying a R90 from John from France... pitch range is 10.5/-10.5 (data display shows 12/-12 with 0/100% in pitch curve), auto pitch limit is -7 (8% in pitch curve) and I start in Normal mode on my 9CH and have a -3 pitch dialed in by using the sim's data display and in Sim parameters, I have Restart after Crash at 2 secs...

with that all set, often after a actual crash during a flight session, when it goes to restart the landing gear gets bent or the heli just twitches and crashes, forcing another restart until eventually it restarts without any immeadiate crash.

any insight on this?

When it restarts, have the throttle stick raised a little more, not at full negative.

Hi,

This is a known issue, at full negative pitch and full throttle (which is the way it starts up if you have the throttle stick at full low position), the landing gear breaks (it is not strong enough), and the heli crashes.

So at start up, put the throttle stick in the 0 degrees position, or between -5 and +4 degrees, and there is no problem.

By the way, with a real Raptor 90 it is also not such a good idea to have the heli at full throttle, full negative pitch on the ground either.

Regards,

John.

Best regards,

John

I set Reflex so I can use my radio switches and it starts in normal until I hit idle1 now, I also have throttle hold and throttle kill set up. I just got Reflex yesterday and its pretty cool, I have a 9800Xt video card comming also. My little girl messed with something yesterday and now the computer screen is real dark, cant hardly see. I cant wait.

Yes to fix that scenario, set a pitch curve in the normal mode for about -5 degrees and that will not happen anymore. That occurrence at the restart can happen in the real world as well. Ask me how I know.

I find that the more I treat XTR as a real world scenario, the better it is and the more it translates from the the simulator world into the real world application. It is not a substitute for real flying, but a lot of neat technical flying ideas cross over. So if you set up your radio for XTR as if you are setting up your real model, you will get the most out of it.

Or just do as mentioned, and keep the stick at mid or just below when the sim restarts.

Jeff,

I set -5* (33% in my curve) and it still crashes on restart. It doesn't do it as frequently when I back it up to -3* (40% in the radio) =\

Okay, my bad, in the sim data, the value is -4 for normal mode. In stunt mode 1 at 100% throttle at -9 degrees, it will still hit.

Wonder why? LOL

Just adjust your normal curve setting for that value in the sim.

Wonder why? LOL

Sorry about that.

from the data display in the status bar:

Normal Mode:
at low stick, 40% in curve, pit= -3*/4*
at mid stick, 50% in curve, pit= -0*/4*
at high stick, 100% in curve, pit= 12*/10*

Idl-1, V-Curve
at low stick, 0% in curve, pit= -12*/4*
at mid stick, 50% in curve, pit= -0*/4*
at high stick, 100% in curve, pit= 12*/10*

all centering response times are between 1.50 and 1.52
