Ship the new kit to work, build it there and finish it in the same colours as the 30 - take it home and no ones the wiser. Mind you, when I tried this my ear was still sore when I woke up.

Years ago my wife and I were having a chat about what we spend money on. She was taking stock of what I had been buying lately. I remarked that while I love toy airplanes/helis/gliders, she spends lots of money on jewelry.

She icily stared me down and repsonded "Yes, but I've never CRASHED a diamond ring".

Just do it. You work hard for your money so you've got to get some comeback from that.

Bring her to LHS and let her chose Rap50Se or Rap50Std. Or buy first then build the kit together with her....

Tell her that the models weighs the same but having a larger engine will mean the engine will not work as hard and will use less fuel, and so will save you money

I say keep the 30 and buy a second heli being the Raptor 50.

A pilot should never own more engines than models. Every engine you own must be paired with a model. Its just not good for the engine. Plus, everyone must have atleast 2 helis in the hangar.

And wow, I would see a red flag go up if my girlfriend was nagging me about what I buy particularly if I wasnt even married to her yet. Good luck

You just need to find a wife like mine who doesn't care how much money I spend! I guess i found a good one! When I originally came to buy my first nitro heli I was going to by a 30. I explained to her that the 30 was just like the 50 except bigger and more powerfull then the 30, so she said get the 50 with the good engine, TT vs OS 50. Ended up with the 50 w/ os50.

I just added up wht my fianceé used in shoes during the last two months, and whoppah: -a new 50SE with digital servos all over.
Now, I'm working on adding together what she's been using to buy clothes. I need a new transmitter and a GY 611 plus a GV1, and I'll throw in a OS 50SXH as well.
A good thing I know my math

What's the big deal? She's your fiance, not wife unless you two live together and combine income then I say she has no control. I guess I'm a bit luckier. My fiance has actually bought me heli parts and upgrades too for that matter I think she also realizes that when we're married it will be me putting her through the rest of her schooling and helping to pay off her student loans.

I say all this only because I know she won't be reading these posts and I'm safe

Helis are cheaper than cosmetics, hairstyling, and shoes. Add it up.
