Hi Gents, I don't know about you folks but I am from the Lotus (Cars/F1) school of engineering, build it light and keep it simple. I regularly do aerial work to go to print and until recently I used a heavily moded Eco 8!!! This carried a 7 million pixel camera.....just....and was in service for 1 year and earned me my reputation and a lot of money.
Electronic stuff is advancing all the time, cameras are getting more powerful and even smaller week by week, so why the need for even a 10lb payload?
3lb would probably be more than enough, I'm thinking small.
PS. I now use an Electric Century Hawk Pro Sport, with 2kg payload.

On this article you can see a home made Contra rotating head for a Z230. There's not much info but I guess it's a good start point

WOW nice find. Its beautiful. Seems like contra-rotating blades on a large heli like this might be the solution to "smooth" video and nice crisp stills

edit: hey gerd you ever consider designing one of theses heads

DJ,
If you could lift the camera you need now... what would it be? Not assuming a blank check on weight but a few extra pounds capacity to get you to the level needed for bigger/better jobs.
