The new shape of radios receivers at $60.00
I just came back from a flying club meeting and one of the members had a Polk radio system, Polkhobbies.com. He also had one of the new Seeker II receivers. I don't know how durable they are only time will tell but this thing is amazing. It is a synth. receiver that all you do is turn on your transmitter withing 5 ft of the receiver then hold the programing switch on the receiver turn on the receiver and it will seek and program itself to the new frequency. It will work for all electrics because it is lighter than the Hitec receivers. Like I said I have not used one and it will not probably be for the 90 size ships etc. but maybe if this technology catches on the majors like Futaba and JR will have to lower prices or release new products sooner to compete. Just curious if anyone else has seen this receiver.

The Seeker has been on the market for quite a while now, several years. For whatever reason, it hasn't set the world on fire.

Might be the ugly transmitter they show next to it in the ads. Like something out of "Blade Runner".

I agree the transmitter is ugly and not heli compatible but the technology in this transmitter is amazing. When you power it on it scans all frequencies and if yours is on it will not power up. It is a synt. transmitter and sells for 150 bucks for some reason it makes the 2100 14mz look overpriced.

This sounds similar to the Werba synth receiver which brought down a heli of mine last year.

I had one of these... The only down fall I found to it was that it did not work on with my 9z. So I had to sell it and get the Futaba style.. What a price difference.TDR, Kontronik Kosmik Cool 200, Kontronik 750-56, CGY750,

I have been workking with a couple of these and have found them to work well on indoor flying type planks.... They have not done so well in the Micro or Mini heli arena though, at least for me... they seem to be very easily by all of the close electronic in the heli..
But I also have a friend that used one in his 50 sized machine with no problems....
It certainly is handy to be able to set it to whatever radio you want.... without having to purchase another crystal...and it does seem to work very nicely in a most situations...
But I have to agree that it would not be a first choice for one of my "larger" heli's...

The website is POLKHOBBIES.COM I wish I new more because I was trying to decide between the Futaba mini and this receiver. We compared it with an Airtronics and a Futaba 9c and it worked I don't know why it wouldn't work with a 9z. I will ask him if I can try that next time I see him at the field since I use the 9z.

My 9z is synthesized so that might be part of the problem also. I have found a couple different off brand receivers that will not work with it.

After calling all the manufacters to figure out why this is... They all stated that Futaba did something with the programming in the Sythesizers so that they will only except Futaba receivers.

I have found though that GWS receivers work with it

Guy Martin - I was comparing the price of the POLKS (60ish) to the Futaba Sythesized (170ish). What a difference.

the seeker6 has been the only RX i can get to work reliably with my 3drpo (micro elec. heli). i have gone the whole rerouting electronics, separating electronics, ferrite rings, etc. i even tried an R770s with zero success (no glitches, just constant lockouts).

as soon as i put on the seeker, everything worked fine. i even put my ESC back by the RX (one of the things i had tried moving to eliminate the glitching earlier).

i'm very happy with it. this is the only seeker i've tried tho.
if it ain't broke, break it.

Try polkshobbies.com instead.

Yes, you pay over the odds for futaba. I think the biggest concern is reliability and that's what I like to think I'm paying for. When my webra receiver failed in flight, the receiver rattled and I found a loose capacitor after dismantling
The only other receiver type failure is when a crystal failed in flight in a R149DP.

I carefully dremmeled the case open and found a broken leg. The synthesized modules still have a crystal in them, but if it's a small surface mount defice, then it will be far more robust. However I am still concerned over the scare stories one hears about the modules being 'scrambled' in flight due to heavy doses of rfi.

The combat guys at hte field have been flying the polk Tx and Rx for the last couple of years. They have had so many issues (lockouts and glitches)with the Rx that they have switched to other brands of Rx and still use the Polk Tx.

YMMV
