Ok, I've searced the post and am still a little confused so hopefully youn's can help me. I fly a R50 OS32 XP 6102 radio GY 401 gyro. I recently purchased a Revlock 10. Does this control the RPMs on my motor from getting too high or from getting too low or both. And should I set my throttle curve to 100% on idle up if it controls it from getting too high?

The Throttle jockey Rev MAX is the one that limits the overspeeding only. You need to set up a throttle curve as close as you can, with the REVLOCK CSM,it then takes over control of the throttle servo keeping the ENGINE at the desired RPM you want. DOUG

So if my throttle curve is a bit off the Revmax will override my curve to the set RPM no matter if my actual RPM is high or low?

You need a properly set up throttle curve as a backup in case the Revlock fails, but then the revlock totally controls your throttle when its properly setup and enabled. Read your instructions and make sure you fully understand them before you attempt to set it up and fly.

Governors are not for Newbies, setting up that is. Get somebody that can help you. There are factors that will confuse you, engine tuning is a big one.

I'm looking at getting a governor for my Sceadu with Hyper50 as well.

I've been using mixing to keep the RPM's up while doing consecutive loops and rolls and it seems to work fine but I still get the overspeed when I unload the blades during transitions.

I'm being told at my flying field that the Revlock is better than both the Throttle Jockey and GV-1. You guys agree with this?

It's a matter of opinion. But I have tried all and the CSM RevLock prevailed.

Just put mine on order.

Now I just have to figure out how to make it work with my Eclipse 7 radio. It doesn't have a governor menu and I can't assign a switch to my 3 position. I just have a channel 7 2-way switch.

No, I can't which is too bad. I can only use the 2 mixers to mix channels and can't mix in a switch condition.

It's possible but you have to use the radios Governor function instead of using the atv's on channel 7. Assign the governor function to the same switch as your idle up modes.

If only it were that easy. As I stated in my previous post, the Eclipse 7 has no governor menu.

Colin thinks I'll be able to use the 2 position switch on channel 7 for what I need. The only thing I'll have to sacrifice is the changing speeds with the idle-up switch and I'll lose a speed setting.

I've also read that I could use channel 5 (gyro gain) for the governor and then use ATV on channel 7 for the gyro gain. This would limit the gyro to having 2 values controlled by the switch but I always leave my gyro in heading hold anyhow unless I'm checking the setup.

I just got my RevLock installed on my Sceadu 50.

It was easy to set up however aligning the sensor with the magnet was a bit of a pain. I had to get it within 1 mm for the self test to work. Perhaps the magnet is too small that came with it? It's smaller than I expected. Since I just removed my switch though, it fit nicely where it used to be. With it in this position, I'm stil able to barely see the leds with the canopy on to make sure it's armed.

The only problem with the kit was that one of the lead cables was missing. In it's place though was an additional sensor cable. I was able to make a cable which worked though and I now have a spare sensor so I'm not complaining.

I was able to set up 2 throttle conditions with my Eclipse 7. I installed it on channely 7 which is mapped to a 2 position switch and can't be changed. With a better radio I guess I could have set up 6 but I think 2 will be enough. I used the ATV on the channel to set the speeds.

Today will be the maiden flight with it.

Maiden flight didn't go very well. Started up the engine and the governor test light came on fine.

I had set mode B so that the governor as disabled because I also just installed a different pip on the heli and wanted to get the mix and headspeed dialed in. About half way through the tank I had it dialed in and decided to hit the switch to mode A which was set to maintain about an 1840 headspeed. Nothing happened. Did some rolls and the engine bogged on consecutive rolls (mixers were off). Once I landed I discovered the magnet had come off.

I used 2 part epoxy and had let it cure for over 24 hours so I don't know what happened. A guy at my field said I should have scuffed up the magnet before putting it in to get it to stick better.

I'd like to get a more powerful magnet because the one that came with it seemed to be weak. I had to have the sensor <1mm away in order to get it to complete the self test.

after fighting a TJ pro and never getting it to work, I installed a revlock and it works flawlessly. I like it better than the GV-1s I had been using, and next helis will get these.

On the Eclipse, if you put the speed selector for the governor on channel 5, you can have headspeeds set by the flight mode switch. At least you can with the GV-1, sounds like the revlock is the same. Then just run the gyro on channel 7. That'll get you three speeds at any rate.

I've seen this posted before and toyed with this idea to the point where I hooked up the Gyro gain into channel 7 and used ATV to set up 2 rates.

But when it came down to it, I don't think I would need more than two headspeeds nor do I need more than 2 Gyro settings. So I just left the Gov on Channel 7.

Does anyone run more than two headspeeds or Gyro gains for specific reasons? Or it is done becasue it can be done?
