Different belts?
I was flying with a friend today and his trex has a smaller width belt on it, plus it looks more like rubber. I've been using the normal HT1003 XL belts. They seem a little to wide and seem to wear on the sides.

The websites state the HT1003 belt is 2.6mm wide; but I measure 3.1 to 3.2mm. I also see modfedo's has 2 different belts for the longer boom on his site. One says for stretch kit, and the other says HT1003.
I also see GrandRC has drive belt upgrade for 8.90 and TH1003 for $7.56.....

Have any of you guys seen different composition or width's of the belts?

not to hijack
but have you noticed thst the belts really get loose in the cold ! I finished flying a hour ago and the tail started to wag ,after feeling the belt it was much looser than in side.
As well as tmaster statements is one belt better in the cold?

The newer belts are narrower. I don't think they are different material, though. Just different manufacturing lots. The standard length drive belt is HS1038 and the XL length belt is HS1003. I can't notice a difference between the narrow and wide belts. Flight times and control all seem to be the same.

thanks for the link, There's a lot of belts out there to fit the trex. I'm guessing align probably pics and chooses what is a better deal from different manufactuers. There is a lot of places that carry timing belts.

The boom expands/contracts more than the belt. That is why if you adjust the belt in very cold conditions and then take it home to the comfy warm house the belt will then get "banjo" tight. If your belt is on the verge of being too loose in the warm, it will get way too loose in the cold.
