Raptor 50 w/OS Hyper pipe question
Has anyone tried the stock muffler that comes with the Thunder Tiger 50 on an OS 50 Hyper? Does it perform well? Does it require major changes in settings?
Thanks for any advice.
Regards,
TGreen

It does OK.

I swapped to a MPII and have more power. Flight times dropped 2 minutes also.

The stock TT hatori pipe and hyper 50 will still have more power than most people need.

MPII will run a little cooler, though.

I had real problems with the stock TT muffler on my 50 Hyper, difficulty in setting up the carb and a persistent kick on the tail. I fitted a (Weston pipe originally intended for a 60!) and now have smooth, consistent engine runs with good power, although us poor europeans can only afford 10% nitro I'm hoping to move to 30% Wildcat helimix soon so expect some improvement Steve -Trex 700N, Trex 600N, Raptor 550E, 450SE, Mini Titan, Logo 5003D, Beam E4

Well, I'm using Coolpower at the moment which seems to be most peoples choice locally and 10% is £15.50 a gallon collected ($27), 15% £17.99 ($31.35) and 30% is £26.99 ($46).

Wildcat is a little better on price,

10% £14.24 $24.82
15% £15.49 $27.00
30% £18.99 $33.00

with the YP30 at £21.49 $37.50

I'm seriously conidering buying some Wilcat 30% to try but it doesn't seem popular locally, although searching through Runryder it seems fairly well thought of.

Having spent the last two weeks in Florida it would have been nice to have brought some home but apart from the fact its classed as hazerdous (wonder why!) the excess baggage charge is a killer, let alone UK customs!

I have had great luck with the stock TT muffler on my Hyper. Don't have much run time through mine yet, but still havent had to touch the settings.

I'm happy with the stock muffler, but then I have nothing to compare it with. I'm presently muffler handicaped!Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it!

Kicking of the tail in all my flying is slack belt tension, not much but it will be......some will say gyro but if it was ok before first thing to go will be belt.
The nitro content will only be felt in the power band and alot of lower nitro % or nil on tick over or slow runnig also pick up.
Mine 10%.

I used a weston genisis pipe on a 30 and it really woke the little bird up.
Has anyone use a Weston 60 pipe on their 50 Hyper?
I am using the stock TT muffler on the Hyper now with no issues but know there is more power to be had with the same fuel.
I use 15% nitro

I have a Weston 60 pipe on my hyper. The hole spacings on the exhaust are too wide so I had to elongate the holes and use nuts on the mounting bolts, other than that it was a pretty easy fit and loads better than the standard pipe which wouldn't work at all with me but I couldn't compare to an MP2 or Zimmerman as I haven't tried them. The pipe was a £8 Ebay win so there wasn't anything to be lost trying itSteve -Trex 700N, Trex 600N, Raptor 550E, 450SE, Mini Titan, Logo 5003D, Beam E4
