Airborn today
The maiden flight of my Caliber went well.
It's not a true Caliber...
Sorry no pix of the flight, just a few of the design.

Well, this post should propably be in the conversion n experimental group. But it is based on a Kyosho Caliber so why not here...

The conversion itself was principly easy: replace the nitroengine and tank with electric motor n battery. Easy.
The engine of choice is a Kontronik Tango 45-10. A big one. Max power is rated just above 2,1kW. The setup im aiming for is either 3s or 5-6s. With a 6s setup it would bring some 1,45 kW. Close enough for a 60 nitro, but with more torque. Hefty. Headspeed about 2200 rpm. Now we have liftoff.

The testflight today was with a 3s setup, ca 650 w of power and almost 1100 rpm of headspeed. The collective input felt like a heavy scalemodel. Looked and felt really cool. The cyclic was as any helicopter. Expecting the collective and cyclic to be hysterical at 6s with increased flow through the head.

The lipos on the pix are 3s2p Kokam 2000 HDS 15C cells. Have an identical pack, will try both in series in a few days.

The ESC is Kontronik Jazz 55-6-18, a bit on the weak side with 3s but sturdy enough for 5-6s.

The paintjob is Herberts/Standox waterbased. Surprisingly easy to work with. It adhered very good to the plastic without primer.

The next mechanic change is to get a longer main belt.It is very tensed as the motor is close to/touches the maingear. This will also bring the cg a bit more favourable. All up weight with 3s ca 2700g, with 6s some 3100g.

Will keep you informed with more data and info in close future.

All in all nice project!!!
You should hear it rev up, you can bearly hear it. Nice!
