Has anybody experimented with how much weight the T-Rex will lift?
I am interested in buying a small electric that will lift a canon sd200
4.4oz with black widow transmitter about a total of just under 7oz will it lift this much weight?

Thanks

Depends on the motor. I had a 400DH on mine and it could lift around 5oz fairly. Now with a 450TH, whew man I don't think it knows it's lifting any weight!

Lifting
Hey routybouty can you try it out this week on 8 oz and see if it will lift it.
Thanks for your input yea I have read on some of the forums with some of the brushless motors it has tons of extra power how does that motor rate with a 3200kv I just wonder if your bird will handle at least 8OZ I have seen the post with the mini camera mounted on a TREX and the mov it looks cool but the camera is about 1/2 the weight of a cannon sd200.

Thanks Again Johnny Ringo

Hey i have the same camera! I have thought about rigging it up to my Trex also!!!

Right now my heli is 725g, yes its heavy becuase I have a 2220 lipo and a heavy 76g himax. HS56's too. I figured I can cut my weight down about 70g less, by going to a outrunner and a 20C smaller capacity lipo, some frame lightening and wire shortening. That with the 335 blades should be good for hauling the camera. Ad a little extra weight for the mounting and HS50 servo extra to snap the video and pics. The SD200 is 130g

Well I now realize when I posted that I forgot the 1 in front of the 5. I was also being on the conservative side. I tested 2 of those big'ol heavy 6 cell sub-c battery packs and the 400DH would lift them fairly, but the 450TH was still very powerful.

The actual weight of those packs is around 10oz each.

NICE
Hey thanks for the reply guys lets try to keep this thread going for a little while I knew there was interest in Photography with the litte birds. Nice and quiet and no smoke to deal with too..

T-Master let me know when yu lighten and fly to see if it works good.

Routybouty you mean you were getting off the skids with 2- 10Z battery packs !!!
What is the weight of your single litho pack now? If it is 10oz or under then the TREX should do great for this project..

ALSO Im wondering if the new Pro bird is going to weigh much more than the XL I was kinda waiting for that to be released before making a final decision. Shouldnt be too much more weight given the carbon fiber frame.

I run my piggy rexy with a CVS hacked disposable cam at an AUW of 803grams... I can notice a change in flight charecteristics at even just 70 more grams of weight.... To save weight, see if you could wire the camera from the main batt, and cut out the extra battery weight....

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....
