for those of you running 3dmp's i was curious which combination of motor/pinion/esc i should go with?

i had a logo 14 and i ran my plettenberg hp300/30/a3 "heli" motor and had it on 5s, it was a bit under powered at the voltage so i got a tango 45-10 and liked it much more. so when i sold off my logo 14 it had the tango motor, and i still have the 300/30/a3 here and wanted to know if the motor really was the right choice over the tango? when i had my plettenberg i noticed they didnt ever mention it being able to run over 8s..

so assuming i do run the plettenberg, do i need to cut the motor shaft at all?
and what pinion should i run? i like to keep the throttle curves as close to 100% as possible and would like to choose a pinion accordingly, i was aiming for a headspeed of 1800+?

and as far as the esc's well i know both the jazz and schulze are great, but is there one that is paticularly better? or works better with the pletti?

thank you for your time.

That's the motor I've been running since I got it all late last year.

Always worked very well for me and on 10S aswell. Flown alongside another pilot with the Tango in and there was very little (if any) between us.

I went for Schulze ESC just out of previous experience with them. Did have to send it back in due to crash damage but it came back fully repaired at a very reasonable cost and fast time aswell.

I started out with the 11t pinion which comes with the kit but changed to 10t early on in the summer and have never gone back, but then I don't want HS's of 2K+.

Cheers
Richard.

Hi dangerousDick, what head speed are you running with the 10t pinion?
does it bog less than the 11t?
been thinking of using it myself instead of the 11t...
thanks

well that settles it, i geuss i will stick with my plettenberg.

still curious about what headspeed the 11 and 10t pinions are giving, and what esc to use.

but i now have one more question in adition to the others,

is there any chance of these longgo rx lipos fitting in the reciever box along with an r770?

It's been a while since we measured the HS on our models but I'm pretty sure it's between 1650 to 1700.

Not really noticed any difference in the bogging between the pinions but my main reason for trying was to enable me to increase the percentage of throttle going to the ESC. I have always been led to believe that a minimum of 85% was to be used for efficiency and to keep the controller from overheating. We've been running these with as little as 40% to get the HS down, can't remember what mine is now but I'll check later when I get home.

Cheers
Richard.

Bell, I don't use the space in the Rx box for the batteries, just have them strapped to the frames. I used a JR649S Rx which fills the box on its own so there was no room left!

hast upset the balance either.

i think that with an r770 in the rx box there should be enough space for one of those longgo batteries, so long as there is either 36mm vertical clearence or 36mm space for the battery lying down horizontally

any chance someone could make some attempt of measureing it?
