My camera came with a pretty good editing prog. but its a bit compicated to use. Im looking for some thing that has lots of filters, transition, and effects with a light learning curve.

Adobe Premiere is pretty good. It is expensive though.

absolutely love final cut pro. way more advanced than premier (i've used both). and, renders transitions on the fly...and fast with dual processors will even do HD, tho i dont know too many people with HD camcorders....yet. IIRC, the first draft of Lord of the Rings was done in final cut. in fact a lot of rough cuts are done in FCP these days. i've started projects on my laptop on the plane before if i needed to get a jump on a project.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Movie maker is included with windowsXP... very easy to use but limited in capabilities. I like to use pinnacle studio 9. fully featured and fee if you know where to find it

what OS are you running?? and why not run XP or 2000. those two are the most stable platforms to date... im currently testing Windows VISTA (Due to be released in mid 2006) and so far its very stable and faster than XP... so maybe you should consider an upgrade.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. I have a buddy that works for Steven Spielberg. He uses Premiere as well.

Sonic Foundry's Vegas Video, very intuitive and runs under W2K easily.
