the tail rotor should push the helicopter's nose right

if its backwards, switch the polarity on your tail motor

make sure the prop is on the right way too, text out

I haven't heard all the greatest things about the direct drive system. I've heard that keeping it stock is the best way to go! Is this true and if not, what DD should I get? Thanks for the help.

DD Motor
Mkae sure you get an EDP 50 "H" motor it has a grey back plate. If it's anything else it won't handle the higer voltage.

I just replaced my stock motor (3rd one) with the DD set up and it works great. I could never get much right authority in the wind...now it will pirrouette in eather direction... The DD set up is the best mod yet.

IMHO...

Thanks, what type of blade should I use? Would it work if I used the stock tail blade? EDP 50 H motor and what blade? I read in another post, that you can use your stock gear drive housing for the DD setup. Just do a little trimming and it'll fit right in. Would I need anything other than the motor and blade?

I did the DD mod with the 50h motor ,prop on left side( tractor mode )and it worked killer. No heating probs. One day my dog thought it was a low flying bird and my tail motor ended up in is mouth in his dog house.I replaced the housing with the stock one and mounted the prop (backwards)on the right, flew the same but now the motor got hot.Went back to the left side tractor mode no more heating probs.I think the airflow over the motor from the tail prop keeps the thing cool.Just a thought.

I ended using locktight on the shaft,Its on for good but I figure when the motor goes bad i wll just buy a new adaptor, there cheep. If you go that route put the locktight in the prop adaptor so it dosent get the motor, just a few drops will do the trick.

I had to do the same thing - those allen screws just don't bite. I imagine it might be possible to get it back off but probably not worth the effort - I'll just do the same, get another adapter.

Sorry to hear about your motor,Did you put the loctight in the adapter,or on the shaft? If you put it on the shaft, when you push on the adapter it gets in the motor and gunks it up.

I just got this DD tail kit and I was wondering how you get the adapter to stay on the motor? To start off, the allen that they gave me is too small to tighten the adapter at all! Another, if I can get it to stay on, then it just wobbles from side to side.

Get rid of the junk GWS hardware, then tap the holes for 2-56 set screws. Problem fixed. Happy flying, Tom

Locktite sounds pretty good, but I can't tighten them. The allen wrench they gave me is to small and just spins inside the screw. I'll have to look into retapping it. Sounds like it would be better than anything I could think of, besides permanently mounting it!

I actually got everything on right, the first time. I just crossed the wires when I soldered them on. Works great, but the prop and adapter just flew 30 feet to the left when I tested it.

Would anyone happen to know the size of that allen wrench that comes with the adapter kit. I have taps, but they are all too big.
