Hi all

My OS hyper 50 is not very old. Maybe one reason that it is still running a little rough. But either way what headspeed are you fellas running? I have a feeling that I am either to far out of the range of the pipe, or that I am to below the range of the pipe. The motor is powerfull but it is rythmatically spitting and sputtering. I am running a GV-1 governor. Any sugguestions would be appreciated.

Depends on your gearing, but you need about 17000rpm on the engine. If it is a raptor then 2000rpm on the head, if you are doing it that much then I would either watch the plastic head block for fractures or get a metal one.
Spitting and sputtering would more than likely mean that it is rich. If it it is doing throughout the rpm range then I try leaning it out and trying the finger on the backplate.

Thanks fellas. I have tried the finger on the back plate, the backplate is warm. How hot should it be? I have also tried riching it up more and it still has the sputering problem. I have also gone the other way and leaned it out. It still spit and sputters. I am leaning toward the head speed being off. I'll do a calculation for the motor RPM. What kind of engine tunning items should I watch for while GV-1 is off?

I run my head speed at 2050 and the hyper/MP2 seems to be very happy. However I do have full metal head.

make sure your bottom end is correct many tunning issues come from people compensating bottom end issues with top end mixture i usally set low end to factory then richen till it slightly loads up then lean it a bit then adj top for high rpm and check for bogging or too high of temp

Hi all

Well I just did the calculation on the head speed. My highest head speed is 1850RPM. Well that pust me at 15725 motor RPM. Well thats too far off optimum power for that motor. Well I need to jack up that head speed. Its gonna be ballistic at 2000 RPM. Well here comes that Ouick UK head. I'm gonna let the motor run in for a while though first. Thanks for the info fellas.

Thanks for the help fellas. I did not realize that I was that far off. With a tunned pipe, it definitly explains the kinda spit and sputter. lol thanks again
