OK, guys...we have decided to go forth with an AMA/FAI helicopter contest in Tampa next March.

We will get an AMA Sanction for AMA class I, II, and III, as well as FAI. If anyone knows of any conflicts, please let me know ASAP so we can set the best date.

We are NOT hosting a funfly. This is for contest flying only, however the intent is to have a laid back, fun atmosphere that anyone should feel comfortable participating in. If you ever thought about contest flying, this will be the place to try it out. No pressure, just fly, learn, and have some fun.

If you're curious about what the schedule of manuevers are, go here:

http://www.modelaircraft.org/comp/0...ook/rc-heli.pdf

All classes of manuevers are detailed there.

Host field will be the Bay City Flyers:

http://www.baycityflyers.com/area_52_field.htm

The site has a climate controlled "ready room" with TV/VCR, room to setup a scoring computer, and a full service kitchen.

Once the dates are set, we will post a flyer on the club website.

More to come,

Erich

You will have some trouble with March. David Harkey hosts the Birmingham FF in March and most everyone attends. Each year he has about 125 pilots... Since you are in FL why don't you go for later in the year when it is cold for the rest of us...

Thanks

Charles

Update
I wanted to get this out ASAP. The State has informed us that overnight parking/camping is not permitted on the site on which our flying field is built. I know this sucks for those of you planning to drive your rigs down and camp. It's an "environmental" policy. That's why I wanted to get this out quick, so you have time for alternate planning.

There are a number of private RV parks in close proximity to the flying site. If you do a search for Land O' Lakes, FL, you should easily find a couple. I will work on putting together a list of RV parks.

There's also plenty of hotels within 10 miles of the flying site. Most of them are at the junction of I-75 and State Rd 54. I will work on this list, as well as negotiate a group rate at one of them.

For flying site pics and info, goto:

For more info, please PM/Email me.
