Hi Guys,

I'm the proud owner of a Hobbico Accu-cycle Elite battery charger that I use for my NiCad, Nimh and LiPo battery packs that power my helo.

I also have several scratch built boats that use Gell cell, the lead acid type found in alarm back up systems etc.

Does anyone know if I can safely charge these from the Hobbico charger ?

They vary in spec from 6v/12ah to 12v/1.2ah. Since the charger has variable settings I thought it might be possible but there is no pre-set for Lead acid type batteries just the aforementioned. Can anybody offer some assistance ?

Best regards to all

JR

I think I'm gonna take up golf ! It doesn't look that difficult either.....

Gell cells are a form of lead acid batteries, and as such need to be charged with a lead acid type charger.

Many circuits are available with a quick search on google.

In a way they require the same technique of charging as LiPo's, but using way different settings.
Also not so explosion prone as LiPo's !!!
