I bought a used extreme at IRCHA this year and am just now getting around to putting it together. I am using Futaba 9252 servos.

The machine came with one set of the studs that hold the servo wheel to the servo and go into the servo support bearing. The studs have a machine screw thread unlike the self tapping style thread that normally holds the wheel to the servo on the 9252. They look like they are made for a servo with a threaded metal output shaft.

My questions are:

How many types of studs are there? JR, Futaba, Self tapping, machine

If all of the studs have the machine thread, will it be obvious by the diameter of the stud that I have the right one?

Thanks for the help

Fitz

i believe mine came with 2 different kinds. one for futaba and one for Jr. they don't just screw in like the stock futaba screw. they thread like you said. don't remember which are for which though.

Both JR and Futaba studs have machine screw threads designed to be useable in metal output gear servos AND to thread reasonably into plastic servo gears.

The Futaba studs are 2.6 mm. The JR studs are 3 mm.

NB: Those intending to use some of Futaba's metal geared car servos in their model e.g. the 9451 should check the thread of the OEM servo screw. At least some are actually 3mm. To my knowledge, all of the standard sized plastic geared servos from Futaba use the 2.6 mm studs.

Angelob, I think that is for a 4 pack on ricks. The price is about $13. Thanks EMS1 for the offer. I don't think you need to take the time to send me one of them. I think I will just go without it on the rudder servo since it doesn't have a very heavy load on it anyway.
