First, let me say thanks for all of your posts. I have learned invaluable lessons through your posts here and feel that I need to say thanks. Now, onto the reason I'm posting. Since I've been deployed here in Iraq, a fellow soldier got me hooked on RC helicopters. My first was a Shogun and after a few months and way more than a few crashes, I moved onto a Trex 450 XL. As with all pilots, I wanted to upgrade and looked at all the websites selling parts. I favored HeliHobby, with their great selection, variety, prices and recommendation from the same soldier that got me hooked. Well, I placed my first order on 26 July 2005. Feeling the need for more, I placed a second order on 30 July 2005. Well, as of this post, I have yet to recieve either of the 2 orders. Also, the same friend that turned me onto them has been duped as well. Now I understand that we are not the local customer and accept the fact that it may take some time for things to get here through the mail system. But let me say that my wife mails me care packages from Fairbanks, Alaska, and the latest it has taken to recieve one of those care packages has been 10 days. Normally, I'm an easy going fella but I must say that with the amount of money that was charged to my credit card for those 2 orders, I'm "T'd" off and HeliHobby will not give me my money back after numerous emails most of which are not answered. Needless to say, I'm not doing business with them again and suggest that none of you here on this forum do business with them either. Thanks again for all your posts that have taught me so much.

I thought Sean has got his acts together? I had a bad experience with him a couple of years back and boycott him for those years. I only ordered from them 2 months ago thinking they would've changed. Guess I was wrong.

Be sure to call the CC company to disput the charges if you don't get the stuff. These types of reports about helihobby are common. Do a search and see for yourself.

As suggested, call the CC company and file a dispute. Helihobby will have to provide proof (ie a tracking #) that the items were shipped. If he cannot provide the tracking number, this will help solidify your case.

The other thing is there should be some sort of insurance on the package. Packages sent by UPS have $100 insurance automatically. You can purchase more insurance for additional money.
Not sure who the shipper is though. But is it was UPS, then each package had $100 insurance on it.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear about that.. I'd definately pursue the matter until your parts or money is in hand. I used to use HeliHobby quite a bit with no problems at all. Then overtime started seeing way too many posts like this one... figured it was prob a matter of time until I got screwed so I shop elswhere now.

I buy most of my parts from http://allerc.com/ and http://www.modefosheli.com/_electronics

Everytime I've ordered from Allerc the parts usually ship out the very next day, and if the order is placed early morning they go the same day you order!

While I'm no fan of HeliHobby (been to their shop in person ), I must say that things shipped to Iraq are easily delayed.

In the course of my job, I ship equipment often to a facility in Camp Anaconda, and it's a crap shoot on how long it takes to get there. Care packages are treated a little different than commercial shipments. Usually, stuff I send to Camp Anaconda has to go through Germany via Fed Ex, then certified mail onto Balad since FED EX won't deliver a commecial shipment to an APO unless it's mil-to-mil.

Hope you get your stuff soon, and thanks for your service!

Good,
I do not buy from those guy's , guess why?, go to heliproz.com and they will fix you right up.

make sure you call the cc co. and protest the charges and you will win.
ps they should not charge you untill they ship anyway.

Salem Oregon is home, I work in Iraq

My Posts: All  Forum  Topic

I am in Iraq as well. Fedex and UPS and DHL all will deliver here, anywhere, in as little as 5 days. It is a little expensive, but they will do it. Second, there is no ground option for the above mentioned carriers. Third, it does take a while to get stuff here, however if they didnt ship it priority, it can take up to 2 months to get here, so if it is not here yet, start worrying! The APO will have a record of the package entering the postal system, as long as it was insured. They cannot tell you when it will get there, but at least you will know if it is on its way. Another thing to be aware of is that we are in a combat zone, and as such all packages are screened multiple times. A transmitter or servo or anything like that will probably raise some eyebrows, as it did for me. They will see all the little gadgets and inspect the package to ensure it is not sent to harm you. which may delay it even further, especially if on the customs label they didn't put a good description.

Just wanted to share that with everyone. if you are going to be shipping something over here, ALWAYS insure it. If it is lost in the military postal system and it has ANY tracking number, the last person to touch it can be sent jail for 25 years. Therefore they will ensure your package gets out of there.

I have made plenty of bad choices in my life, but at least I was never a Marine!

Samething happened to me with helihobby. I called Amex. Helihobby never even challenged the chargeback and did not even respond to Amex.

Shops like that should not be allowed to advertise here in RR. They should also loose their merchant account.

Hope you get it resolved.

How much longer are you going to advertise for these creeps? They have an abysmal record with the BBB of the Southland , with an 'F' (BBB's worst rating) and yet here they still are, screwing-over hobbyists--even soldiers putting their lives on the line to defend their sorry @$$'s from terrorists!

How do I know about these guys? February this year they tried to stiff me out of $1450 worth of merchandise that they never shipped to me while I was stationed in Baghdad. Mine was the 16th of the current 17 unanswered complaints registered with the BBB.

Enough already, drop these scumbags.

This thing with Helihobby has been going on for years.

What amazes me is that people INSIST on ordering from them. WHY ???

Do you folks think that all these complaints are fabricated ? Lets say that half of them are due to Trolls. That still leaves quite of few complaints amongst the various forums.

BTW, their prices aren't that great anyway, so I don't even see the attraction with customers there.

Ronlund, Heliproz, Tower, ..etc stick with the more established companies and these things wont happen.

I suppose it would be a good thing if they weren't advertised on Runryder. In my mind if a board has their advertisement they support them. That's why I ordered from them.
