Received my Trex X yesterday, built it and did the first hover tonight.
I'm using the smallest pinion that came with the motor, BL400LF 2800KV.
Set the throttle curve according to the manual, motor runs quite hot.
Oh, the canopy doesn't fit properly, rubs against the linkages on the swash.

Must say it is a lot more stable than the Honeybee FP or the Carboon CP

I used the 13T pinion with the 400LF. It always ran hot. The Align heatsink helps a bit.

What batteries are you using?

Just to be safe you should check the mesh on your main gear and motor pinion, as well as the mesh on the tail gear and main gear. You don't want them too tight.

The Align motors run incredibly hot. You're not doing anything to cause it, it's the Align motor natural state.

The canopy runnning into parts of the heli is common with the T-REX: use a two-tiered solution to solve this.

First, trim notches in it to clear the linkages. Look closely at this pic to see where I've cut a notch for the swash push rod:

Second, VERY CAREFULLY, using a heat gun (like you'd use for MonoKote), or a good HOT blow-dryer, GENTLY HEAT the canopy while holding the canopy to create any clearance you might need. Continue to hold the canopy in the new position till it cools. You must be VERY careful, because too much heat will melt the living daylights out of your canopy,

I got a 1800mAh pack with the kit,
Other than the battery, I suppose everything in the kit is botton line quality ;-(.
I did also get a blue metal swashplate, but fitted the plastic one for now.
I'm using the plastic blades for now, saving the woodies for later.
The tracking is spot on, don't know why other have problems.

So let me sum up my meagre knowledge here:
For a low power motor like mine, I use the smallest pinion, and use head spead, rather than pitch to get it flying.

My Raptor pitch guage don't work on this heli!

Other than that, I have to admit, the T-Rex can almost be classified as "Ready to fly out of the box",
IF you closely follow the instuctions, and do some homework on this group :-)

I can already see I'm going to go the bling route here.......

I had really good luck with the plastic blades too.

I recall my headspeed with the 400LF and 13T pinion being around 2200 rpm with the plastic blades.
