Hey all,
I am excited, so this post is mainly a vent for my enthusiasm. Hope this does not bore anyone who reads it.

Last week I bought a Blade, my first Heli. I tried to fly it in the parking lot at work, but breezes blew it all over the place. I tried to fly it inside, at work, but the walls kept lunging at the chopper. Over a three day period, and about 9 charges of the pack, I got to where I could get the thing airborn and then watch it fly away from me until I set it down in a panic. I was starting to have my doubts.

I tought myself to fly airplanes by building a balsa plane (dandy sport) and getting my orientation down on FMS with the keyboard. I had no money for a cable. FMS is why I have never gotten disorriented (sp?) and thus never crashed my plane with over 100 flights. So, with all my plane success, I figured I could work my way into helis with baby steps.

The heli had me thinking that maybe I just did not have the time to learn such an unstable craft. I got frustrated and decided to buy a cable for the Tx. I started flying FMS with the Tx and cable on Friday during my lunch hour at work. I don't take this thing home because a newborn takes all my time there. Anyway, today my stubborn left hand started behaving and suddenly I was able to keep the tail pointed at me at all times. With this new skill, I was able to hover within the confines of one parking space and run down the entire pack while having to touch down only once due to a naughty gust of wind. I think this rotor craft thing is starting to "click" and I am VERY excited. Maybe in a week or two I will be flying something other than tail in. The extra challenge of the heli is far more addictive than the airplane, although I still love that bird too and will never choose sides.

Thanks for listening to my rant, I'm just excited to find that these things are not impossible for me.

Im addicted now.

Picking sides, hmmm...kinda like asking the crack addict if he still likes pot. He will always say yes, but offer up a joint or a rock and the rock will always win. You have taken the first steps into a powerfully addictive hobby....all other hobbies will suffer from this point forward. Trust me, I know.

Ignorance is curable, stupidity is for life.

The heli is a sign of my downward spiral into not having time to do jack. See used to have a glo plane .40 trainer. I flew it like 4 times and just never had time to gather my stuff and drive 1 hour out to the field and wait around for a club member to buddy box with me. Ten years later, I buy an electric plane because I can fly it at virtually any park. The thing is great, but I still have to pack up and go to the closest park. Now, with the heli, its step out the back door and fly!

I can hardly sit here at my desk with the Blade on my table behind me....waiting.
