The radio i have is the futaba 9C super, all the videos of turbine starts that i have seen have the starting sequence initiated by moving the throttle trim forward, the 9C has an electronic trim rather than the ratchet type that i have seen in the videos. It does however have two sliders on either side of the radio, can i program one of these to start the turbine or do i have to use the throttle trim??

Hey,

No, you will have to use the throttle trim as normal, as the Fadec ECU connection plugs into the throttle channel of the Rx.
Hence it reads the throttle position for starting & running from that channel alone.

Having a digital trim will not be a major problem at all, for safety some like analogue trims on throttle. But a trimmer is just that no matter whether it be elctronic or machanical.

Must be getting close to and/or running the turbine now? Exciting stuff for you now I am sure.

Yeh, richie1967_uk, just use the electronic trim to start with, when you see Wrens' instructions all will become clear. They take you step by step on a full proof programming guide, you see, then eventually you can move the start sequence to a switch. I will explain later if you wish as I have the same set as you. At that stage maybe a phone call would be quicker to explain, but it really is very simple. However talking to someone that’s done it is always reassuring and does save time.

All my receivers are in helis at the moment so i guess i should get a new one, i might aswell buy one that i will use in the predator when i build it....any suggestions?? While we are talking radio gear, what servos would you recomend? i have a spare 401 gyro which i will be using..What is the latest on a governor that works with the wren?

Hey,

Turbo Props are awesome, Ali Machinchi's Spitfire over here in the UK looks and sounds fantastic.
As it thunders past you the sound is nothing short of the real thing, listen to a Reno Air Race and you'll get the idea as a P51 powers past.

The Turbo Raven is a gorgeous air frame to.

I got hold of a copy of the FADEC instructions, the sequence can be initiated using the throttle hold switch instead of the trim.....
