I just installed a GV-1 in my Raptor 50 using a Futaba 9C super and I am haveing some wierd problems.
I set it up per the manual and are using the throttle to turn it on. I can set it up on a switch, but for now I don't. Originally I had it set to "off" for normal mode, 1550 for Idle 1, and 1850 for Idle 2. I lifted it off the ground for the first time and hovered about 2ft high, switched it to Idle 1, tached it and head speed was perfect, and the same for Idle2. Put it back to normal mode and the engine cuts down to idle speed! I landed it, put throttle stick to low, increased throttle, engine came back up. I did this several times and all with the same thing happening every time. What wrong here? It didn't even resort to the throttle curves that are actually programed.

So then I set the head speed for normal to 1550, 1650, and 1850 for Idle 1 & 2 still using the throttle to turn it on. Now everything seemed ok, working as it should. Now here is the really wierd thing. I put her back in the air, flew for about 10 minutes in Idle1, then all of a sudden when I was hovering at about 40-50ft, in Idle 1 the engine cuts down to idle speed agian! and I don't really know how to auto! Somehow I managed to get her pack in one piece with just a hard landing. After I got it down I switched back to normal mode and everything seemed to be ok again. But now I am a little scared to fly it because it might happen again. I guess I better learn how to auto!!

Is there something that I missed, set up wrong, or what? And the manual isn't the clearest to understand. And can I set it up to use either the throttle and use a switch to turn the GV-1 on and off so that if the switch is off the throttle won't turn in back on?

Any input would greatly appreciated!

Graham

Ive heard of that happening before, couple reasons i know of are:

1. Low / Bad battery (Whats your voltage under a 1a load?)
2. Sensor has a short in it somewhere.

Check all your connections from receiver to the throttle servo, anything related to the gov, the Gv-1 has a failsafe if i remember correctly, and if something is getting shorted out, or one of the connectors is loose it would probably go into FS mode.

Also check all your Limits on the gov. make sure you have the idle high stop limits set, also make sure its not binding anywhere.

Or you might just have a bad gv1

Well I know that it wasn't a low or bad battery, I charged it the night before. As for the load, I am not sure. I am running a 401w/s9253 and s9252's the rest of the way around, including throttle. I am not sure what load that would put on the battery. I do have the fail safe mode enabled in the GV-1. Should I disable it and try it out to see what happens? All of the connections seem fine.

I have been flying this heli for about 9 months with a PCM receiver and have never had any sort of lockout problem.

That might explain the incident when it went to idle when i was in Idle 2, but what explains what happend when i have the GV-1 off in normal mode, going to Idle1 then when back to normal, engine goes to idle?

Like i said, it might be a bad GV-1 or it might have a short in one of the wires somewhere, or maybe just setup wrong in radio.

One other thing it may be, happened to me once. The sensor may have moved out of range of the magnet. Check the sensor readings. If the sendor does not recieve an input formt he magnet the GV-1 turns off. It asumes the engine speed is below 70% of set speed.

Regards,
Heli
