My Stratus tail output shaft broke at the pin hole with a really minor blade ground strike during auto..

Does MA have the new shaft with dimples and set screws ready for shipping?

They say the new shaft is good (but they did the same for any other piece they put to sale for the open box), only time will tell.

They have put alot into the shaft problem. You have to get the "ringed" tail gear with the new shaft if you dont have it. Call them for the PN.

Jees,

Is it just me loosing track of these open boxes?

Will MA exchange the pinned type for the new ones, or do we have to spend on another replacement part?

When I last asked them to exchange my pinned shaft (for the original dimpled shaft and ringed gear) they refused as it was not for a Spectra.

Clearly things have shifted and they understand there is a problem with all the previous open box shafts, but is that for all models, or do MA believe it is still just a Spectra problem?

I cannot fault MA for pushing hard to resolve this issue but it has cost some of us a small fortune to keep changing these parts.

Work sucks!!

I asked MA if they'll replace them and this is what i got:
------
There are new shafts but they are upgrades not warranty replacements.
They are going to be what we use now but not free.

The set tail and gear together is $32.95.

Seems a bit harsh in view of the fact that the previous shafts have all failed at some point.

I would not have regarded the new setup as an upgrade, and neither do MA if they are including them in all the kits from this point forward.

I'm a little disappointed to hear that from MA I must admit, but I suppose suckers like me will hand over the bucks for piece of mind if nothing else!

You get any Part No.s from them Lior?

Tail Gears
I had a NIP open tail box and they replaced the gears and the shaft for free about 1 month ago.

Still haven't tried it though... I was debating whether to put it on my expert and get some time on it first.

I called MA today and they were very courteous and helpful in getting the output shaft, gear and set screws in the mail today..The new shaft uses a flat rather than a dimple and is properly hardened..

I called them on the phone.. I am sure the Stratus portion of the website will get better after the stratus has been out for awhile..I think this fix will complete the tail shaft issue..It sure is a fun flying machine..

So...

What's the difference between this version and the set screw version of the gear/shaft originally produced as the 'fix' for the Spectra?

I have ordered a couple of the new ones (one of my Stratus machines is currently the 'Spectra' fix, the other has gone back to the closed box) but it would be nice to know what has changed?

Well I changed out the tailshafts on my machines to the latest 123-90 shafts. Apart from rumored changes to the hardening process the shaft was a little different to the previous type produced for the set screw retained gear. The 'dimples' were slightly shallower.

I hope this one hold up!
