Guys,

Just curious, has anyone come across (or developing) either Hornet for XTR?

That model has been promised for like a year now and still no one has produced it yet. I think Reflex made a near-official announcement of it's developement which may have caused the privateers to put off making thier own and wait with everyone else while Reflex may have forgotten all about making this model.

Recently someone offered to model the next heli that someone sent him a full set of pics of to him. I came close to sending him H2 pics, but my pics aren't real great. I'm tired of waiting for this model and wish someone would just make it already. I tried myself, but I'm just not up to that challenge.

The pics I already have of my H2 are lousy and bareboned. I'm in the middle of upgrading my H2 and have it torn apart at the moment. I could try snapping some new pics when it's back together, but I don't know how much better they'd be. Plus my canopy is pretty scarred up on one side now.

If someone else can produce the required pics of a mint H, that'd be grand. Don't forget to mount the battery. . If no one else, then we'll see how mine turn out. Probably next week or two, I'm waiting on parts.

I took some new pictures of my H2 yesterday (good thing, because I crashed it today). They still aren't terrific, but I'll upload them to my gallery late tonight or tomorrow and if no one else submits better pics then you can use mine if they're suitable.

Guys,

I use a Canon G5. It takes beautiful pictures. I have a new HII with custom painted canopy, couple of DUZI upgrades and walts main blades. I have every DUZI upgrade, I simply haven't had the time to tear her down. What resolution would you prefer? I'll do my best to take some shots when I can.

1) 2592x1944
2) 1600x1200
3) 1024x768
4) 640x480
5) RAW

Also, are there further instructions such as the backround color? How many shots do you need? From what angles?

I think the higher resolution the better? You need at least all 6 sides of the heli. See pics H2014.jpg - H2019.jpg in my gallery. You can take more pictures for more detail like close-ups of the head and tail systems.

I think they recommend a neutral background like off-white or tan?

You might want to ignore getting the blades in your pics and just add them in later. I got the blades in mine to cover the bases. I'm pretty sure a model can be made from the 6 pics in my gallery. Just not as good as could be with more detail.

Thanks for the pics Captain Chaos.

Unfortunately they are a bit too low in the qaulity department for modelling from.

If Razmos can take some and either post them online or send them direct to 3-daz.com

I can get started on this model.

Cheers guys.

Love the H2 Captain Chaos! Nice job!! Sorry to hear about the crash. I hope you get her repaired.

Dazzle Star,

I'll try to take some snap shots this weekend. I'll most likely e-mail them to you and or post them in my gallery.

Dazz,

I took some shots today. Given this is my first time I can retake them if you want further shots, angles, closeups, you name it. I'll send them tomorrow morning since my USB cable is in the office. Thanks

Thanks for the photos Razmo.

They are ideal and should be all i need.

If you want to take some more of the heli without the canopy on i could buid the model
with a nice bit of detail.

If you do take more, if you resave them using something like photoshop
or paint shop pro with a compression setting of about 8 the files should
be about half the file size and retain the quality.

Ill hopefully make a start on this tonight.

Ill keep you posted as to how i get on.

Maybe you could play about with an existing model to get a good par file
similar to how your hornet flies?

OK Guys,

I started setting up the file in RMK last night to model the Hornet II.

I also decided to keep a web page of the progress.

through all stages of modelling i plan to upload some pics
of where i am up to and also the latest MOD file for XTR
so everyone can download it and see the model from all angles.

Any comments or changes anyone thinks should be made can be emailed
to me - daz@3-daz.com

http://www.3-daz.com/h2.html

please note this first set of files is only to check
that all the photos and stuff in RMK are lining up properly so this canopy
is only of a low quality and doesnt completely follow the correct shape.

Wow, looking nice already!!

I will take some shots with the canopy off. I presume you'd like me to just take close ups? Anything else?

I wish I had the time to tear her apart and install all my DUZI upgrades. Although I can take pictures of the parts if that will work?

Also,

For anyonw who is reading. I'm tied to the office and nearly have enough time to sleep these days. If anyone would like to toy with creating a .par please do so. I certainly don't have the time here

Hi To all,

Sorry for the delay in getting a new update to you.

I have unfortunately been really busy recently, and i am moving house in
just over a week.

Razmo, I can and do plan to continue modelling from the set of
photos i have. Any others would be a bonus and might save me modelling
some things twice, but they are not a neccesity.

After the move i should be able to get back into modelling this h2.

Thanks for your patience.

Daz

Hey Daz,

Thought I'd say hello. I understand you've been busy moving house and etc. I thought I'd touch base for any news on the potential development of the H2.

Meanwhile, theres a nice new Maxir at rc-sim.de that could use some par tweaking if anyone is up to that. The tail rotor rpm needs increased to eliminate the weathervaning. Hub dampening needs reduced a bit, plus some other adjustments.

I'm not very good at polishing pars myself. But if someone else manages to get this little Maxir model flying as good as it looks, let me know.

I wish XTR mods were completely independent of the pars so we could swap pars and mods without the models becoming disportionate. Then I'd just use the current H2 par with the Maxir mod and be happy until the H2 is finished. Unfortunately the little Maxir does a David Banner/Hulk transformation while under the influence of the H2 par.

I did some tweaking on the Maxir model, files are available on http://www.rc-groups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448504 (may have to edit the hostname on the link) Still have a few tweaks to make, but it flys pretty close to the way mine does...
