Just want to share my recent experience how a petrol engine interferes the receiver due to wrong installation of antenna. Fortunately it is not in a hard way (still in one piece).
I am not quite an experienced pilot and this is the first time I build a scale heil (Vario) with petrol engine (Zenoah). At the time when I did the first test flight (not painted, no scale stuff, and with the antenna attached outside the fuselage like those trainers) everything was OK. Then I touched it up, and as this is a scale model, I 'hid' the antenna at the bottom inside the fuselage underneath the engine. The result is, just when the heli was being about to leave the ground or, immediately after took off, the engine got on and off chokings. Though the engine was not yet dead, it rendered manoeuvring quite difficult. Then there was a long way of diagnosis: fuel mixture, fuel lines, carburettor, spark plug ... no cure at all. Today I changed the throttle servo but still in vain. Then I took the antenna out of the fuselage: what a miracle that the choking phenomenon immediately disappeared!
Now I know the magneto did interfere.

Oh yes, I forgot those photos due to the prolonged diagnosis. Will post them in My Gallery later.
Cheers.

ecilop I have had similar problems with trying to hid the antenna on several models if you look on my gallery you can see the compromise I have come up with on the Cobra and the Jet Ranger it works and is not too obtrusive I always prefer to have 150mm / 6 inch's of antenna hanging under my models
