Show us the trott. and pit curves you use and your head speed, on both idle 0,1

First specify what motor/pinion, and speed control (gov or not)

my idle up 1:
90-85-80-85-90

Idle up 2:
100-95-90-95-100

You need to be aware that I am using an align motor if you have a hotter setup the hihger RPM's could easily tear up your machine, so use some common sense and be aware of your headspeed. She shape of the curve is whats important, and this works for me and I believe it gets me very close to constant headspeed for a +10 to -10 degree pitch curve.

(upperking, I'm not nescessarily saying this was your problem, this is just my caution too anyone taking my advice)

Those are pretty much the same settings/setup I use.

Why do you think those settings caused you to crash and tear your drive train out? I don't get it?

Soft start for spool up, and the throttle hold switch for crashing

Guess I was lucky and got a good one, no problems for me yet (knock on wood). I've only been using it for 7 months so I'm sure it could still act up.
Which controller are you using?

upperking -- you used settings for a CC25, but you don't use a CC25?

It seems unlikely that your E-flight 25amp controller supplied so much power that the motor shredded the same gears that people are using at 300W+ peak without problems. I suspect there were other mechanical issues at play here.

Had you checked the gear mesh, especially at the highest point on the main gear, prior to flying? Also, what throttle percentage were you at in Normal mode? was the jump between normal and idle-1/2 so high that perhaps the motor and gears jerked suddenly?

There's nothing even remotely unusual about KevinR's settings.. so I'm relunctant to say they can 'crash' anything...

I have a cc35, 335 woods, Mega 16/15/3 on 13t, tp2000 prolite and I can barely get 2400 headspeed.

If folks are getting 2600 - 2700 on this kind of setup I'm doing something wrong.

I'm using 1.14 version of the firmware. In governor high mode at around 65% I'm at 2400 with no pitch. Adding pitch turns on the led meaning I really don't have a usable 2400 headspeed.

don't use govenor mode on CC speed controls, you will be much happier and get much more power with a simple V curve.

yeah im using the new century a1 outrunner and the thing has some pump, it was just to much power at once and the whole head is strong cnc parts.. so it ripped out all the plastic links and gears..

It almost seems like the motor went in reverse.. because now its running in reverse and i had to swap wires around?!?!

wonder if the switch reversed it...

Yes, I have found that my climbouts are better with the fixed throtte.

Even with fixed, should I be able to get the headspeed up to 2700 on 3s with the Mega 16/15/3 and a 13t? I only get 2400 even with fresh cells.

What do you have the throttle endpoint set to on your Tx? I had to set mine well over 100% on the + side to get a good headspeed at 95% in governor mode.

upperking,

Are you talking about your 3D pro or a Trex?

You need to use the norm mode to get "up to speed" before switching to idle 1. I set my pitch curve in Norm mode so I'm at zero pitch (50% pitch)at half stick to full stick. This way I cannot fly in Norm mode by accident. You want to be around 80% throttle at half stick before switching to idle 1. Some like to switch in flight I prefer to switch on the ground to avoid flying in Norm mode and doing any 3D thinking I'm in idle 1.

What Tx are you using? Make sure all the settings are the same in Norm mode and idle 1/2. Maybe you had your channel 3 set wrong in idle 1.

I have 3 phx 25's and they never glitch but I also run berg rx's The newest software for the CC esc 1.161 (I think) works fairly well now.

I luckely had enough spare parts laying around to get it back in the air.

i put the two switchs back to default.. maybe a v curve is better?

Kevin,

I set my upper ATV at 125% on my Optic 6 but the headspeed maxs out at 65. Any more and the led is on and no more more speed increase. That's 2400 for me.

The thing is in fixed mode I shouldn't have to go higher than 100% atv. to get max headspeed. That's why I'm thinking 2400 is the max I can achieve.

I'm going to start a thread asking what folks are finding for the max speed for the mega 3 on 3s.
