Hi Bjacks,

I've just installed a Astro flight 020 motor with a Castle Creations Pheonix 60 speed controller and it flies much better even with the std 8.4v Nicads. This motor and speed controller setup will allow me to progress to 11.4v Lipos with I'm promised even more remakable performance.

The complete setup is available through Astro flight as an upgrade.

http://www.astroflight.com then sroll to the bottom of the page and click on brushless motors, you 'll find the system half way down the page labelled 803HV.

Good luck.

JRl

I think I'm gonna take up golf ! It doesn't look that difficult either.....

Hi Bjacks,
The road I went down which has proved successful is:
Hacker C40 10s with Master 40 ESC. Flew gently for 9 mins with 3300Nimh. Then 3s2p, 5000mAh Flightpower Lipo. Upto 20 mins gentle flying and mildly aerobatic for 15. The 15 tooth pinion has been used throughout, though I think a 14 would be better with the lipo.

I found the stock motor very poor: Very heavy brush wear, little power and less than 5 mins from the 3300Nimh.

.

Logo14 Vbar, Logo500 CSM flybarless, Trex 600 CSM flybarless, 3DMP, Logo10, Lipoly, Mini T, .......

Yeah i agree, go the Hacker C40-10L. i have a C40-8L and wished i had got the 10L for flight times.
The speedie is another thing.......................
I have a Castle Creations CC60 but i am about to get a Logo14 and will purchase a Kontronic speed controler. I have had some trouble with my CC35 and my CC60. The factory have replaced them both (free of charge) but the last trouble cost me a set of frames, a set of carbon blades, boom, shafts, canopy, 401 gyro, JR SPCM receiver etc etc......., so good by Castle Creations, good luck in the future. I hope you get a few things sorted because i like your companies attitude towards warranty claims. Its first class.
I have heard some great reports about the Kontronic controllers. Someone else who has had some experience with the Kontronic controllers may be able to suggest the exact model of controller for you.
Good luck..........
Ps, I have some 11.1volt 4000Mah lipos that i am testing at the moment which i should be able to offer for sale soon. They are 10C normal use, 15C burst. Thats 40amps constant supply. They weigh 280grams and should retail for $90 US. I am using them in my Voyager E at the moment and have also combined two packs to get 8000Mah. Thats a 8000Mah (80amps, 560gram) pack for $180 US. Pm me if you would like some of these lipos.
