I have dabbled in electrics for about a year now and just have had bad luck......
I fly nitros now but with winter coming, i would like an electric....

Please give me some suggestions on the TREX
Right now i fly the rappy 50.... and i see the Trex almost is just like it but a smaller version....
I like the mechanical collective on it....
My problem in the past is speed controls overheating.... had a 3d pro...
Please give me a best setup scenario for this machine such as servos motor and esc....
I already have a 401....

My set up
I went with the basic set up because I am not a good 3Der yet.
Align 400 LF Motor (kind of weak) 2500 Kv.
Align 35 ESC (do not use the 25, you may need the extra amps some time)
HS 55s for the collective and the cyclic
HS 50 for the tail
I am using a Polyquest High Output 3 cell Li-Po 1800 battery pack. This is not the best for 3D. It is heavy and can't output the amps. Seems most people are using either the Kokam or the Thunderpower lites.
I use a Berg receiver because they are great for not being bothered by interference. However, Castle Creations bought them out and I am not sure how the receivers work now.
I have a CSM 200 gyro. About the only guy I know using it. It works ok, not as well as the 401.

I also have had the Pic Pro and Fun Pic. This is definitely better. The Pic Pro gave me fits with the tail and also doing inverted stuff. Much better with the TRex. Some of the parts are kind of flimsy, however, I have the earlier version. I think they have stiffened up some of the parts.
I do not fly mine with governor mode on. It causes tail wag.

Go to TRex tuning website. They have great into.

For basic setups I would recommend the Align 3200kv motor on a 13 tooth pinion, TP2100 Prolite Lipos, the Align 35amp speed control and since you like the Raptor the TRex XL HDE. The latest batch of Hitec HS55 servos are working fine for me for over 70 flights now. If you use an HS 50 on the tail wrap some tape around the case to prevent it separating. Futaba 3108 servos worked well for me. The 401 is perfect for a TRex.
