Finally getting a Stratus kit after a long wait. Any tips on building it? Anything to look out for that's not covered in the manual?
Thanks.

Stratus Build
The Stratus build is pretty straight forward. At certain points it goes slow, mainly because you have black carbon plates and black bolts and it's tough to see orientation if you print the manual. You will have to go back to the computer to get a good look at some things. A laptop near by helps. You'll see, but overall it's an easy build.

The only real suggestion is that you have to Dial indicate the Fan. I know that folks just bolt it on and go, but on the Stratus I think it's mandatory.

The rod lengths are nearly dead on right out of the manual. If you have a Fury now, the programming setup is nearly identical as well. You might have to reverse a couple of servos, but thats about it.

It's a nice machine, your going to like it. With the new flybar carrier it flys very stable in FFF.

Good luck,

I agree with Mike, every word.

i didnt dial the fan though, and it seems to work pretty good with the dampners.

its an awesome machine, you will like it a lot.

I would suggest that you radius all the edges of the frames were the wires go. This will help from wire chaffing.

The conversion kit comes with some rods. the rest come from your Extreme. No need to buy anything unless you want to upgrade to the HD rods.

Extreme Conversion
Good advice about rounding the edges.

The rod set I used is 121-2 (Ion-X rod set). The conversion gives you 1 or 2 thin rods if you want to use the rods from your extreme. Then you will have some thin, some HD on the machine. Not a big deal, but I put the HD rod set on. The servo gears tend to strip either way in a crash.

I was eyeballing the manual and it says to put blue locktite on the engine backplate bolts. I have never used locktite on any parts of the engine because when I did, I regretted it later (other than the nut on the crankshaft). Doesn't the heat liquify the blue locktite and make the screws get loose even faster? Did you guys use the locktite on those bolts?

Rods
The swashplate control rods (from bellcrank to the swash). I replaced something else too, not sure which one (throttle?). Not really all that important.

The other thing when converting an extreme is the rear canopy standoffs won't work with the extreme canopy. You need to get the longer tempest standoffs and use a knob to secure the canopy.

Mike, does that kit also include the servo to bellcrank rods that fit a Stratus ?

i ask this because i got my hands on a Stratus conversion with no rods at all from someone, i can buy them seperately but if i can find them in a package that would be better obviously.

Rods
I'll have to look. I think some of the rods were a different length, but I'm not sure. If I get time I'll look tonight and let you know.
