There is a quick and dirty "cheat" for this that often negates the need to enter the background menu in the GV-1. When you set your limits in the GV-1, place the throttle stick about one full tick mark ABOVE full idle for the IDLE set point. Set HIGH and STOP as usual. Doing that will help keep the GV-1 from dropping out so much. You may or may not be able to set the IDLE limit higher still depending on how the GV-1 behaves WRT overspeed in the air or erratic engagement. It works perfectly at one tick mark above idle.
For you history buffs, this tip first came out back when the YS ST (not STII) was in release and was surging after stall turns or other 0 degree maneuvers as the GV-1 jammed throttle back open after taking out too much when the model was depitched.
