'llo all,

the guy at the helishop just tweaked my CDE and tx, and now it flies just great.

He did set up my 5pt throttle curve as a flat line at 85 (spooling up with throttle hold switch), coz he thought the Align 25A ESC (which came with the CDE kit) is governor mode.

Well the ESC setup was not 100% what he expected (new version? he said) and I think it DOES NOT have governor mode - it's the RCE-BL25T and I noticed that Align ESC with governor usually have a G at the end..
Also the doc has no mention whatsoever about governor.

Sent an email to Align just to be sure, hope they'll answer ..

Question is now:
what should I do with the throttle curve if it does turn out that my ESC is no governor?
Should I leave it in a straight line?
I've seen some examples of V-shaped curves, should I move in that direction ?

Thx 4 the advice!

Hi Pirre_GW

I have just read the instructions for the esc and although it don't say govenor mode it says airplane or helicopter mode
I think you will find if you are in helicopter mode this is gov mode because it features soft start facility
So yes is the answer to you question leave it in a straight line across the board @ 85%

If you run you esc in airplain mode this you can do you will infact be disabling gov mode and you won't have the soft start facility and you will need a v curve

Pirre_GW,
Not wanting to add confusion but my instructions say airplane, heli soft start and heli soft start + governor mode. The last two are not the same! . Only way to really tell is to reset the ESC and see if the governor option is there when you go into aircraft/heli option #4. If you cannot get the 3 confirmation beeps with the throttle stick high you do not have governor mode and will probably get better performance with throttle curves. Depending on the motor, pinion and lipo you are using those curves vary and only with some assistance and a tachometer can you really get it setup properly.
On the other hand if it is flying to your satisfaction now enjoy it and don't worry about it. Electric Helis are a different breed and as you fly more you will learn about their characteristics and make your own adjustments to suit your flying style.
Most importantly, have fun
Gary

no governor mode on the align 25 esc blt

I researched this before getting my t-rex. the bl25-t is the one that comes bundled with the 420-lf motor and the xl kit in a factory combo pack.

Both Heli direct and grandrc told me this was the cae, and checking http://www.align.com.tw shows this to be true.

the 't' designation denotes that the esc has a softstart function. the 'g' designation denotes soft start and governor function. there is also another 25 amp esc with neither softstart or governor.

check the align website and you'll see what I mean
