Hi

I have the 401 gyro mounted on my T-Rex and my Rappi 50 and it works great in Flips, Rolls, Piroflips, Pirouttes and so on, but when i try to fly backward the tail went away. Gain is on 65% in HH mode and Delay 0.

Is backward flying a problem for the 401?

Yours

Andi

Stock R50 tail blades don't have enough authority. Get some carbon blades up to 92mm. I fly 85mm NHPs which hold great. Low headspeed and inadequate tail throw can also be factors.

The Trex tail is a basket case IMO.

I had a 502 on my Sceadu which used to do this, I found the best way to overcome this is to set the tailblades at 7 degrees pitch against the torque which reduces the workload on the gyro (as 7 is pretty much the optimum and will only be a degree out from ideal). You can fine tune it to hold hands off in normal mode so that the tail does not drift at all, then it'll hold better in heading hold mode. This solved my problem might be the same issue with yours???

Backward flying is very possible with the 401, if you see Nando's video in the Photo's and Movie's Section (http://www.runryder.com/t205738p1/)you will see that he is doing a lot of backwards flying with a Raptor 50 and 401 with no problem.
