This summer I weighted some parts just out of curiousity, here is the data:


Metal bladegrips without bearings................130 g for both
Plastic bladegrips without bearings..............100 g for both

Horizontal carbon fin.........................................24 g

Carbon driveshaft with ends............................32 g
Aluminium driveshaft with ends.......................38 g

Carbon base plate............................................39 g
Metal sideplates................................................93 g for both

One way reinforcement ring.............................31 g

Carbon boom....................................................62 g
Aluminium boom...............................................98 g

Crossmember.....................................................4 g
Crossmember with screws and washers.........7 g

Headertank........................................................30 g

Plastic spacers between up&low frames......21 g for all four

orlee008, I think the stock paddles are closer to 50 grams each, but who cares, no one uses them anyway

As a comment to the numbers you can see that the choice of tailboom can shift the CG of the helicopter quite much since the tailboom's mass is far away from the helicopters CG.


About 200 - 300 grams is quite easy to shave of from a stock R90SE.

stock boom supports with end caps and screws 66.3 grams for both

I tossed the stock aluminum supports and replaced them with carbon fiber rods. these weigh 26.1 grams for both

saved 40 grams

viperhead dual plug with plugs installed 85g
non pumped c-spec 570g
pumped c-spec 605g
OMI worked c-spec with big bore carb and cline reg/ dual plug viper head 615g
auto rot hub w/maingear tail gear and auto rot ring 190g
Carbon fiber 3D fins 35g

thats all the spare parts I have laying around...

If anyone would like, PM me with any weights you have on R60/R90 items and I will start tracking them on a spreadsheet. I will do the conversions so metric or US standard is fine. I mainly ask that you give me three things
1. The items part number
2. The items name (fan casing, rear frame set, etc....not Tom, Dick or Harry)
3. An accurate weight (no bathroom scales please)

As the list grows, I will post it, assuming I can figure that part out.

I know many of us use others manufacturers parts...QUK, Carbon Xtreme, etc, so, give me the items part number and name and I'll list those too. Let's not include specially modified parts, like holelier than thou frames and stuff.
