The Sceadu Evo .30 is a good choice........
it is a great heli, excellent quality and can be easily up-graded to a .50 when you feel ready. The flight characteristics of the sceadu are what makes it so popular.......you won't be disappointed.

The Shuttle is a good helicopter and less expensive than the Sceadu. Parts are easily found, and it's pretty reliable. BUT, it's a very old design and has some pretty serious limitations if you ever plan to upgrade it.

The Sceadu is a much more modern design, flies better, and can easily be upgraded to a 50 when you're ready for more power. For less than $100 more, it's worth it!

EVO is better, the question should have been Raptor or EVO. As someone said shuttle is old and smaller (and crashing may be more expensive than EVO)

If you have flown an heli, go for the 50. Upgrading is expensive so...

I think you should go for EVO 50, the difference in price in the long run it'd be cheaper.

Evo
Buy the Evo 50 then buy the 9 tooth pinon, new main gear and motor mount. This way you can install, for example an OS 37 and when you want to upgrade to a 50. all you have to do is buy the motor and blades.

It's a lot cheaper buying the Evo 50 and the other parts you need to make it a .30 ship. Also, you get the added benefit of a push/pull on the control surfaces.

If you bought a .30 and then upgraded to a .50 it would be alot more expensive

Go for the EVO 50.
Put a Hyper 50 in it.
Leave the gear ratio alone and spend the $90 on a good Govener (this is money you would have wasted with an upgrade kit anyway and the govener will last forever.)
Run 550 blades on it with a +- 1700 headspeed. As you progress you can increase the blade speed and then go to 600s.

The 30 & 50 Parts cost are the same (they run the same parts exept fo the linkage.) the fuel will not be that much difference when running the 550 blades (you won't even load the motor)
There is no better way to break your motor in than a light load

Donkey you have the right to remain silent what you lack is the capability

Girard Ibanez,
I like your breakdown of the RAPTOR. Excellent! However, I have the R50 and the Sceadu .30. Both fly flawless when tuned perfect. I guess one can safely assume it’s an individual preference.

Aim High!
