I have three complete eRapp50 conversions with the works. Several sets of lipo batteries, custom painted canopies on two of them with lots of Quick UK bling bling and carbon fiber, etc., etc.

I was a man about it and let my wife know exactly how much it cost me. Yup. Got it all for $500

yep I've got one, and the wife knows I got one, and the wife puts more $ in it for me too.....but thats so I can buy her heli parts as well (thats the truth) unfortunatly I get to work on em all (19 to date, 18 if I sell the X-spec) needless to say me thinks I got a keeper, only reason we set up a hobby account is being as alot of the transactions that take place are on the internet, If I suffer from identity theft as a result of a heli transaction they wont get much money....its got no overdraft protection and we only keep whats gonna be spent in there....which sometimes is alot and sometimes it isnt....and its not linked to any other of our accounts either....just gotta pick up the phone and transfer the funds from one account to the next....

Ask your Doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

"Got it all for $500" HEHEHE
I played that game when I bought my Bergen Intrepid. She found out how much $$ I really paid for it because I was responding to a PM on here from someone wanting to know my experience with Bergen and she read the PM over my shoulder.

Of course I typed in how much $$ I lost on that damn thing and she read it. I still haven't decided what was worse--buying a Bergen or getting caught playing the money game with my wife.

Seperate bank account
I have set up a seperate bank account, but not to hide from my wife. It is because every time I see something new or able to be upgraded, I quickly lose sight of reality and decide that I have to have it, regardless of the cost. (Impulsive buyer)

I found the easiest way to control this is to set aside however much money WE decide we can live without, and that is my heli fund for the month.

Well, and buying her anything she wants helps too.

I have made plenty of bad choices in my life, but at least I was never a Marine!

I just put a little every week into my paypal account. $10 here and there is not noticed. I don't use credit cards, so any major purchase comes straigh out of the checking and raises the red flag immediately.......damn that on line banking(wife can check anytime from work). She has never really fussed about anything, but when $500 comes out of the account for a single purchase, I do have to go through the usual q&a with her on it. With the paypal account, I can avoid that conversation.

Hmmmm... Interesting thread. I have a " hobby " credit card for the
normal expenses that my wife pays the bill on. But for the large
purchases we have a "quid pro Quo"system. Gee, it happens to be my turn! Hello Heliproz!

Absolutely. Lora knows about the account and she doesn't have access to it. I put $200/month into it. That keeps me from overspending, and it keeps her from spending my hobby money on shoes...

I have a small trading account and if I make money in it, I spend that on toys and, sometimes, gifts for my wife. My wife knows about it, but it's not a lot of money so she doesn't look too closely. It also helps that she has no idea how much helis cost.

I must have been blessed with my wife when it comes to this hobby as not only does she know exactly how much money it consumes and has no problems with it and as she his the highest earner out of the 2 of us she actually pays for 90% of the hobby for me

Now first I am single, and dont plan on marriage any time soon (I'm 22) but what I dont understand is how the wife can get upset at the amount of money you spend on the hobby you love, especially if you earned that money. Now mind you, thats after taking care of financial responsiblities, but why should it be up to her how much you spend of your own money? Any woman that demands to have such a control over my finances certainly isnt with me because she loves me, its more of a power struggle. I've had a girl that questioned my spending so much on my hobby, but what business is it of hers. I treat all my women like queens and they get what they deserve, but where should the money be going instead?
