I've been having some problems with a tail snag on the belt. This only happens when the engine is at idle and the heli is moving really slow.

What happens is that is apperas as if the belt gets stuck with something and then comes loose. It looks like the tail blades are going to stop and then they get going again. It oviously makes a small craking/blinging sound.

The tail belt is tight (to too much). But is tight enough as not the have a boom interior snag.

All the teeths in the bearings are OK, so there are no teeth jumping.

It only happens at idle and it stops whever the blades get going.

Has this happended to somebody else
Is there a way that this can be fixed

try this...
Nathan from Ricks and I attacked this SAME problem on my raptor 30 v2 this past week...and this is what we found...

we thought it was the gearing...checked both main and rotor, found nothing....took the whole head assembly off, nothing...all ok...then it was Nathans idea to pull the motor....

BAM!! loose fan and clutch (from arf set up I imagine) and not to mention we had to run the belt snug. I think when I set things up myself I may have had that belt too tight? now it has to stay tight..lol or snug.

well...after we tightened up the fan and clutch...put her all back together the "clicking" and hesitation at idle stopped....it was so bad it would stop the tail rotor right? well....tightening all that up was it....the fan had about 1/8 to 3/16 of play....and the clutch screws were just hand tight if that....

hope this helps....it worked for us....if you see all my posts...you will see I had the same thing.....

You might check to see if possibly the belt is over rotated inside and is hitting itself in the boom. To many rotations on the belt.
Hope this helps

It could be the pin in the tail gear if it's a 20 0r 50. Mine sticking out and catching on the case. Bob

Sometimes the tail belt stretches in one place making it ride the pulley also as mentioned the pin works its way out of the tail pulley.

My belt and tail dose the same thing and i think its ok.
Belt to tight and it robs power and stresses the one way clutch
So i just live with it
. At the field i loosen the 4 allen bolts and tail fin and hold the helli by the boom and point the nose down and the weight of the helli is all that i alow on the tention of the belt. Works for the first few flights and starts to skip again but never had a problem.
