I just got a GV-1 for my R50. I came to take the fan off, which is the stock plastic fan, and I saw that there are 2 little round cut out slots on the bottom side of the fan. Are these pre-made slots to mount the magnets for the GV-1? or do I still need to drill a hole and mount it?

Thanks
Graham

yes they are....

but here is a little trick

I use a small drill bit and drill a bleed hole.

then epoxy (15 min) into the areas, and push in the magnets and the excess epoxy oozes out of the small hole thru the fan.

wipe off excess....

make sure you use one magnet positive and one negative so the sensor only reads one!

Is it safe to mount the "dead sensor" to the same side of the fan that the "live sensor" is mounted so the fan will ballance?

the magnets and locations for them should be at opposite sides of the fan. this will counter ballance it.

You'll have to drill out the 90SE fan to accept the magnets as they are not pre drilled, or better still order a Quick UK fan and they have been pre drilled.

I drilled and used epoxy to mount mine on my 90SE. It's pretty easy to do. Look at Jeff Swartz's gallery if you have any trouble as far as location!
