Just bought G3, Hawk Sport, and Blade CP. I've been flying the Raptor 30 to learn. What is the best heli to use in G3 to learn my helis?

Hi apsdsmracer,

If you are totally new to helis I would suggest the Impala with or without training gear

IMHO the Sun Dog is probably more Raptor-like.

That Rap30 is a good trainer. Right off you're using 3D throws and symetrical +/- collective to get used to it. Try the Dominion 90 for awhile, then go back to the R30, and back and forth. Getting accustomed to the differences is good practice as well, like a batter swinging a weight on his bat.

The scale choppers are cool looking, but most have almost no negative collective and are underpowered. Unless you modify them. Which is a great way to learn even more.

I've been using the R30 as well. But, I find that it loops and rolls sooooo much more slowly than my Hawk Pro that they are different animals. The R50 seems better but then it'll auto better as well. So, I generally use the R30 and live with the slower controls. For the Blade, don't know if someone has done a G3 version of it or not, I seem to recall the there is an electric FP Heli in G3 (but I'm not sure).

The problem that I see all the time is that the Helis on G3 are "perfect". Even when I set up my Helis, they are subjected to forces of nature that don't seem to be in the sims (upper air currents), small glitches on the radio perhaps. In any case in real life I get into trouble a WHOLE bunch faster than on the sim.

Got Money? Send it to me, I'm a Heli Addict.

Thanks for your post. I just picked up two Hawk Sports. I've read that there isn't much difference between the two, what's your opinion? I'm also curious what engine you're running. I've got a TT .39 and an OS .32. Which one would you recommend running? I was also curious how happy you are with your Hawk overall, I was thinking about selling both of them for a Raptor 50. Tell me what you think. Thanks, Dave
