can someone please shed some light on a few things for me

i have a 3dmp (secondhand)
with flight power 10s5p batteries

and need to know what to do with a few things.....

ok so the battery has these multi wire conectors coming of it and (and deans connectors ) i have two cell balancers i think,(look like a circut board in between two peices of carbon fibre plate with a female fitting to match the ones coming out of the lipo (there are two coming out from the lipo),do i plug both of these cell balacers onto the battery and charge it ? is there an order to the connections as not to short anything or do anything bad to the batteries?

do i use the cell balancers every charge ?

what should i do to check these batterys before i do anything else with them ?, ie.. discharge or cycle them on the charger first ? if so how do i set the charger to do this?

i have schultz 330 charger can someone please explain (in plain english) how i use this charger and what settings i need to use (tell me really slow as im new to lipos) step by step would be great.

this heli has a platenburg 300/30/a3 motor what does the numbers mean ?

and a kontronic speed controller jazz 55/10/32 what are the number to represent ?

Sorry to sound like an idiot but i have never had electric helis before only nitros and have been flying for about a year now.

but must admit i love this 3dmp and the thought of no mess to clean and no fuel and less vibrations....

i have seen the light !!!

also will a large truck battery connected to the charger be enough to charge these lipos ??

Thanks Dale

Hi bathmagic

I will try to answer some of your questions
do i use the cell balancers every charge ?
No just check the balance of the pack every now and then
what should i do to check these batterys before i do anything else with them ?, ie.. discharge or cycle them on the charger first ? if so how do i set the charger to do this
Just charge them and use them set you charger to 10s charge rate
i have schultz 330 charger can someone please explain (in plain english) how i use this charger and what settings i need to use (tell me really slow as im new to lipos) step by step would be great.
The schultz charger is quite simple to use once you understand it to set the charger for your 10s follow these steps

Press both buttons together release the left button first then the right this will put you in programing mode

Now press the red button untill it reads lipo and press the black button

Now it will show you a number press the red button untill it reads 10 then press the black button

Now it will show you more numbers this is the capasity of the li-po pack i disable this function by selecting 99999 using the red button to change the numbers once 99999 is selected press the black button

Now you are out of programing mode you need to select the charge rate press the red button to increase the charge rate or press the black button to decrease the charge rate only charge at the recomended rate for you li-po normaly 1c charge rate no more so if yo li-po are rated at 6 amp then you would set the charge rate to 6 amps or to be safe set it to 3 amps it will take a little longer to charge

Now connect you li-po and the charger will do the rest
and a kontronic speed controller jazz 55/10/32 what are the number to represent
http://www.motor-mike.de/index2e.htm

55 = amps
10/32 = min and max cells it can use 10 x 1.2 = 12v 32 x 1.2 volts = 38.4v
this heli has a platenburg 300/30/a3 motor what does the numbers mean ?
http://www.plettenberg-motoren.com/index_uk.htm

Have a look at this site it will explain all you need to know

Regards

Normaly you would charge a li-po at 1 x c unless its states on the li-po what the charge rate is in your case you will charge at 3.5amp its better to charge at a lower rate
you would never charge more than 1 c in any case

One more Tip
I have a pair of 10s2P's that I charge with a pair of Schultz 330's

If you are using a Truck battery or large car battery its still very easy to drop the voltage accross the terminals of the battery below the 330's cutoff voltage (about 11.5 v I think)

I now use a 18amp 12v supply to feed the 330's but when on the field and using either the Car or a Truck battery in the boot you need to hold down the Black button as you connect the 330 to the 12v battery.

The screen will show a msg about min input voltage now set to 10v.

This will stop (reduce the risk) your 330 stopping in the middle of a lipo charge.
