Today my son turned 11. He has been hounding me to fly helis as I have made him learn planes first. Last Friday I picked up a new sim so he could bash at the heli sims.

During the weekend I made up some training gear out of a 1/8" carbon rod and ping pong balls.

Today after work I took him out for his first shot. I set up the heli soft and unable to climb more than a foot or 2. He had a hard time at first, but he got to where he could hold it 6 inches off the ground in one place mostly; all this on one battery. Then is was dark and we went home.

He might spend that B-day cash he got on his own T-rex soon. An R/C father can only hope

Awesome! My 2 (almost 3) year old loves to fly helis on RealFlight. He loves to bring it up high and then slam the stick down so the heli will crash

LOL...stpeteheli!

I'm also having him play with Reflex XTR's hover training mode. I set it up for aileron training, place my finger on the monitor and have him try to keep the heli under my finger. He's getting it. The drift confuses him. It's unlike the mouse control on his computer games. Hopefully he'll catch up to your son Smity777

Then the next trick I'll tell him is to say "But Mom, those aren't upgrades. They're spare parts, and I've always had those."
