hello,

Noticed recently that my OS 50 Hyper tends to hydraulic lock for no reason.

I always cut back by lowering the throttle trim to full down then activate throttle cut. But recently the motor seem to be hydraulic lock almost everytime when I had refuel & want to start up again.

Any advice?

Thanks

you clipping the inlet to your carb when you refuel?

Ask your Doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

In addition to refueling, use the clip to kill your engine after your last flight of the day. Running it dry will prevent hydro lock the next time you start it.

me 2.
I found this as well. I almost wondered if my starter was dead, but it does seem to do this. As well as picnhing the line it will keep the fuel out of the engine and bearings and make them last a little longer.

they tend to do it more when new

use a camp on line before it gos in carb

pich clamp after flying and leav it pinched while filling tank

warm glow plug up a sec or two turn enging over a coupe if times with starter.

the un clamp it and start it when your done and land clamp line again straitaway

and you shouldent have a problem. mine seemed to get better after it had run in a bit as well but the can still lock prity easy.

Just pull the line off of the carb to refuel.

I didn't get 1 single hydro lock when I got my Hyper. I've had it for 4 months.

Pulling the fuel line off everytime to refuel would be a bit hard on the tubing plus could leave small slivers of silicone in the carb, I always find it better to use a tee piece and a plastic plug plus a clip on the line to the carb.

I've not found the OS50 Hyper to be any worse at hydraulic locking than the stock 50.

You are right. Pulling it off and putting it back on is hard on the fuel line. I've had some neon yellow line on there before and never had a problem after 9 gallons of flying. I recently bought some Hayes black clunk line and changed all the lines. It's easy to pull off the carb. It's really flexible and durable so I'm sure it will last.

Everyone has different ways to do this but this is basically how I do it..

Be sure to clamp off the line between the T and the carb before you refuel and clamp it to kill the engine. This has been suggested by others in this thread and is the best advise I can give. It can't hydrolock if there's no fuel in the cylinder. Just be sure to unclamp it right before you start up. Don't let it sit with the clamp open. Also, make sure that your exhaust plug is out before you turn it over, if you use one!

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it!
