Hi,

Having been inspired by the custom landing gear made by so many of you, I thought I'd have a go myself !

The only problem is that I cant find any steel brake line where I live (UK). I've tried halfords, and a couple of local car part shops, and they look at me as if I'm nuts (probably am !)

Anyone here from the UK found a source for this rigid brake line ?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Ok - so there appears to be a shortage of steel tubing in the UK !

Has anyone ever used brass for custom skids ? It should be easy to work with, but would it be strong enough for this purpose ?

ANY advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

A bit of lateral thinking here. Have a look in your local B&Q, they have a section (at least they do up here) with a load of different steel, ally, brass and plastic stock. It comes in tube, solid and different shapes, might be of some help.

Hi philip

been there, done that ! They didnt have steel, only aluminium.

I'm going to try using the aluminium, but with plumbing T pieces for the joints.

If that doesnt work out, I'll have to use brass tubing (K&S), and braze the joints.

Thanks anyway.

Another thought

Local scrap/breakers yard. They will have loads of old cars with miles of steel brake line. A pair of cutters and your on your way to building the under carriage
