Erich,

Oh yes, I think almost everyone is toggling the speed select channel to the flight condition switch(es). I see what you're talking about setting it up as you do, as well.

If a GV-1 guru could take a moment to read my thread here http://www.runryder.com/t201130p1/ because mine isn't working correctly and I'm sure I'm not doing something right.

Thanks,
J

Is the GV-1 the best governor or are there other ones out there? Does anyone know if there is a GV-2 in the near future? I would hate to buy a GV-1 and then find out the GV-2 was about to be released.

I'm pretty tempted to get a CSM RevLok. They don't have the nice interface and LCD screen the GV-1 has, but the software is supposedly much better. It's supposed to even have a "look ahead" feature, where it monitors the throttle signal, rather than ignore it. When it sees a request for more power, it begins to throttle up, rather than wait for an RPM decay. They also have a more reliable speed sensor that doesn't care which way the magnet is polarized.

The next heli I get will most likely have a RevLok.

With my GV-1, I use a TJ pro sensor, works much nicer, its more compact and less likely to give problems.

m8 look at the rev lock m8

its easy to set up m8 yes you could set it up like you said only need one spare chanel.

you need a taco to set up the gv1 you dont with the rev lock.

you got the 9c so you can pritcy much set the thing up how you like

that said its not needed on your set up m8 the 0s37 prity easy to setup
anyway it wont over speed much and way and it pulls a sencible top pitch as well.

I can send you a vid of kevins raptor with the os37 in it m8 so you can have a lisen to head speed

you not going to see much benift for a governer to you start advancing a bit and start fliping it and get it up sidedown

I only use one on mine when I done the 50 convertion with the hyper 50
as its a nightmare to stop it over speeding and it helps a touch with headspeed when i do slopy flips and things while im learning new stuff

but im impresed with the rev lock it was the one i origany got for the 90se

have to go get another one now for 90SE

how the set up is done is with the end point on the chanel one way one speed other directon second speed fine tune offset /head speed by how far endpoint gos.

simple as that

around cent under a sertain persentage the governer is not engaged

over the persentage one direction is a mode other direction is B mode

there so easy to setup you can mix it in with idel up if you want

i prefer a steperat headsped switch indipedant of wether it in idel up ot not

so i can switch between dthe two diferent head speed wether im in normal mode or idel up

ie if it really windy ill run the higer head speed in normal mode.

The 9C has a governor program built into the radio, makes it easy to set up,the 9Z is more of a challenge.

I have a Futaba 6 ch radio without throttle curves and I want to get a governor. I have a 401 gyro and am using the 6 channel for HH. Would I be able to get a governor and/or would I have to get the more expensive futaba governor??

Thanks

you shaw it got no trottel curevs ?
or do you mean it only a 3 point radio instead of 5

re governer you can use a governer without a spare channel but you wont be able to have more than one headspeed.

I also want to control my GV-1 with the flight mode switch. I use governor mode on my electric Trex, which doesn't require an additional switch. For consistency, I don't want to have to rememember a second switch for the nitro birds. So I have assigned Normal=gov off, idle1=1600, idle2=1700. I chose to assign my TH Hold switch to the gov kill function(Futaba 9C gov menu). I haven't test flown this combo yet, but the SWcd function(on the GV-1) tells me that the gov will go off at any throttle stick position when I hit the TH hold switch. Is there anything wrong with this setup?

We don't need no stinking flybars!

Setup my GV-1 as per Dr. Ben recommendation using the throttle hold to turn off the GV-1. The problem I have is that I have to drop the throttle stick pass mid way for the GV-1 to kick-off after I toggled the throttle hold switch, making autorotation a little strange. How can I setup the GV-1 so that it will turn off when I toogle the hold switch at any given throttle stick position?

Thanks
Duc

You need to enable the STSW function in the GV-1, I had this same problem.
