Does Sharpie Damage CD/DVD Disks? I have read that these pens can damage the plastic over time.
Has anyone had a disk frag or become unusable from having used a magic marker on them? I have some very valuable backups and I am wondering if I need to go duplicate them and use a special pen or lightscribe drive. |

but! there are certain disc;s that use certain processes and chemicals that determine their lifespan, there is a program that can be found on http://www.downloads.com called CDR media code identifier and will tell you which types of discs that will not deteriorate over a short time span. the ones that uses the chemical Phthalocyanine is so far the best ones i have found to retain integrity! |

I've read in computer mags or forums that the ink can bleed through with time, causing problems. I still do it, tho. ![]() |
