What a GREAT time and a GREAT turnout!!

Man I am soooo proud of you all and the effort and support from EVERYONE that came to make this event so great.

We had 28 pilots sign the Guest Log and I know there were more than that there. David Frisk took alot of photos and will be uploading them soon (right David!)

Thanks so much for coming out. Get ready for the next one in 1st Qtr 2006!

See you all at Tom Bass this coming weekend!

Here is a group picture we took. Missing about 10 more pilots in this shot:

I agree..it was fantastic!
I enjoyed every minute...was good to see alot of people get together and just fly. Alot of people may not know but Tom Bass is a Heli field and it was built for that purpose and thanks to people like Payton and many others..it would not be there, so I hope everyone takes advantage of the field in the sense of using it because there are not many fields out here that are built to fly heli's and accomodate the planks!

No, I didn't see Gary out there. Wished I could have met him though!

All,
I sent an e-mail out just now (11:00 PM) to everyone that provided their contact info and an e-mail at the event. If you did not get a copy of the pilot roster please send me a PM and I will get it forwarded to you.

In order to get the roster you must have signed up at the event. IOW, if your name is not on the list I will not send it out. Sorry but I'm going to protect everyone's privacy as much as possible.

Four our next HHGT (Houston Heli Get Together) I would like to make it BIGGER and have it catered. Also, some competitive events such as:
1) Autorotation spot landing contest
2) 3D routines
3) Drag Racing
4) "Bling-A-Rama" contest
5) Beginner hovering contest
etc....

What do you all think?

Best Regards,
Payton Indermuehle

I agree!
Not only would it bring us together but inspire the competition in all of us not only for the veterans but would also bring more attention to the newcomers in this sport!

Houston Heli Get Together HHGT
Thanks Payton, just goes to show that there are enough pilots in Houston to put on our own little respectable FF.

I believe the turnout on this short two-week notice was just as good as the Crosby event.

I look forward to the next and hope to see more of the local pilots that were not able to attend as well as the group that was there

I hope that pilots in the surrounding areas like Austin, Beaumont, San Antonio, Lake Charles, Dallas, would try to attend.

I really think with as nice of a public facility Houston has to offer that this could be made into a premier Southern FF. (look out Mr. Moss)

Houston has major airports hotels and restaurants 5-10 minutes away. Not to mention tourist attractions like the Johnson Space Center or Galveston just 15-20 minutes away.

I hope the Houston heli community will continue to get together on a regular basis and try to grow coming events into something special; over time of course.

HHGT Houston Heli Get Together
I agree with ALBATROSS.

Houston should be able to hold a WORLD-class event and do it TEXAS style.

Here here....

I agree! But we have to walk before we can run and the process starts by us getting INVOLVED in S.H.A.R.C.S and building the club up. SHARCS is the AMA chartered club that started the Tom Bass airfield.

The county is not going to work with a individuals. We need to continue growing as an ORGANIZATION and show Precint 3 that we truly will use the field and want to build on what they have provided.

Not only that but there are rumors floating around that another group is wanting to start a new AMA charter and kick S.H.A.R.C.S off the site.

I have been kicking around the idea of calling an interest meeting to see what the prospects are for us to all sit down and talk about turning it all around and saving our "heli" focused club called SHARCS. Let me inform you that the individuals that are rumored to be looking at starting a new club are NOT heli friendly.

We must JOIN the club and to have voting rights the bylaws state a 90 day freeze on new member votes.

Guess what is coming in February???? Yep, officer elections..... Do the math and you will see that we have approximately 4 weeks to get EVERYONE signed up so that we all have a voice and can vote. As it stands there are more plankers on the club roster than heli pilots!!!!!!!!!

So....who wants to step up to the plate and meet to discuss??

I will
I would like everyone to step up , we all have invested alot of time and money into this hobby! I am sure we don't get all the bling and all the arizona painted canopies to fly at some highschool parking lot or hit the tree in our front yards. We do this because we love the hobby and it adds value to our busy work and personal lives..so paying 20.00 bucks (a year)to join a club that will benefit our hobby is very little to ask...we pay that much on a FunFly for a two day Attendance, this past weekend showed that we are responsible pilot's..so no we do not need to be policed..we do not need to be treated like children when we fly and we don't want to feel like we are working on the weekends when we are at the field. But the responsiblity lies on us...we have been to great FunFly's around Texas and the world...and just from my own experiences Tom Bass is in the top half...I challenge everyone to step up..u don't like the rules of the club..join and change them....u want more from the field.. join and make it happen..this stuff only makes a difference when the county see's numbers and participation! If u like being stuck in the corner and having to walk three miles to fly at Sco***
or having plankers look at u and have to fly patterns in order to fly..thats on u..im a little different I like knowing I will grow becuase other people around me share the same hobby, that the people around me are always willing to help and that the place im flying has potential to become if not the biggest.. the best home for heli's! Payton this time you are not alone!
