Time does indeed fly, for me anyway. Last week/end because we were showing off the Pred/Wren we chomped through 12 galls/UK which it has been pointed out is 9hrs flying! After a bit of consideration I think I will carry on changing my gear oil at 7hrs and not 10hrs as planned. 7hrs is no great hardship at all for an oil change and I know it's playing it mega safe, but what the hell. The oil consumption with 6hrs on the box was only 3ml and the oil was a light honey gold, which is perfect, so no point in pushing things. As a little novelty, I found today at Maplin a temp probe that you stick onto things so thought it might serve as a useful early warning, should the final drive suddenly start using more oil than normal. This is probably way over the top chaps, but it was only £7/ $12 and I love little gadgets so what the hell. I have bought a bag of these temp probes as they may come in useful for other stuff, could perhaps even be used to monitor pilot temps if stuck on the head during extreme 3D.
