JR810G is my first option. It's fast and reasonable priced it's not strong though but I'm not sure if I ever need some power on throttle.

A friend of mine has one almost new and promise to sell me when his 8417 arrives.

Amazing how a faster servo for throttle is necessary after installing KO for collective. The RPM loss with fast collective changes is very noticeable

I am using the 8417 through the revlock and it works fine.

I dont know about the revmax but the revlock allows you to select a higher frame rate for digital servo and tune the gain to the individual setup you are using. This allows you to get the max out of any servo that you use.

Something else to remember is that the published servo transit time is for 60 degrees of rotation. In idle up your throttle servo will never transit through more than about 50 percent of the operating range (assuming the throttle value at zero pitch is at least 50 on your throttle curve.) So a a somewhat slower servo, say .14 or so will be just fine even if you are using a ultrafast servo on the collective.

Fitz..thats a good point you made about only using 50% of the potential travel in idle up..so in reality with a Futaba 9001(as I currently have fitted) it would already be around .10 sec for 30 degree rotation

I suppose the biggest gain then must be to go digital as the start/stop speed becomes very important..

I will look into a digi that can run at both 4,8 & 6v as my cyclic servos can use 6v (still waiting for my Fromeco Arizona dual output to arrive) currently using a Duralite regulator temporarily which ties me to 5.1v

I have a spare JR8511 digi at 0.19 & 15Kg..from the pitch, overkill power wise but would offer faster start/stop time

I wonder if it could be re-geared to increase the speed?

Ricardo the way the Revmax works you set a throttle curve anywhere ABOVE the target head speed. It controls overspeeding by reducing the throttle opening to the % you select in the Tx....Kinda like a governer in reverse.

In fact you can setup idle ups 1 & 2 with 100% straight across & use the revmax to 'Clip' the headspeed to the required setting..If you lost a magnet/sensor problem or something you can always dis-engage by going to Normal.

With a (9ZHP or similiar you can set multiple headspeeds by putting it on a slider/knob/switch)..
The thing I like about it is if your engine leans out to much it disengages instead of increasing the throttle opening to compensate & saves cooking the motor like a convential governer.. It makes for a very versitile setup...as you guessed I rather like it

Power consumption update:

I went out flying yesterday and flew 5 times. 2/3 of each flight was spent doing backwards inverted circuits and transitions and 1/3 of the flight stick banging. I could have easily gotten 6 full flights out of my setup doing this kind of flying.

Couldn't be happier with the overall performance of the setup so far!
