and who is going to do AP with a Trex?
Me No you can't go out and buy a mount for it but it is capable of AP and I've gotten some great shots with mine.

I'm also a new local person wanting to do AP.

AndreMan,
My .02, Like Danno, Dakine, and aambrose said, keep learning on the sim. Then get a smaller heli. If I were you I would not try to learn AP, just learn R/C helicopters, that's challenging enough. If you want to stay electric then I recommend getting a T-Rex, they are cheap, fly great and cheap to fix. Otherwise like they said, a Raptor would be a great choice. Once you can fly around all day and even do a few aerobatics (the skills can come in handy if something bad happens) then start doing AP.

If all you care about is doing AP you can get into it faster with fixed wing, the learning curve and cost is not as steep. There is a good thread over on rcgroups.com

Marketing???
Hi guys
I read a few articles from the start of this thread and I've also had my fair share of competition. I've been flying for 17 years but only started with my AP helicopter about a year ago and only doing business about 6 months ago. I must admit the longer I go the less I worry about competition as I'm starting to find that the flying and the photos are not the issue here at all. The marketing is the big issue. I am doing this full time and have employed a cameraman and a marketing / admin guy to manage that side. We have done a lot of reseach but still want to learn more.

I'm from South Africa so I'm not a threat to anyone there but would be interested if other new full time AP businesses that would be interested in sharing ideas of marketing and business ideas. I hope this doesnt come across as rude. I think we have a lot of information to offer as well. If you are please PM me.
Cheers
