I would like to sell my Len Mount Huey, its all brand new and unused and for sale because I just don't have time to do the model justice.

This is what I have,

Len Mount UH1-C fuselage for turbine mechanics, comes with woodwork installed in the front part of the fuselage by Len Mount, kevlar fuel tanks and instrument panel set.

Len Mount top mounted turbine mechanics.

Jakadofsky PJW-R turbine and accessories. The turbine has been fitted to the mechanics by Len so that he could fabricate the exhaust system for the model. The exhaust is included with the sale and the turbine has never been run.

Len Mount rotorhead and washout unit.

Vario flybar paddles.

Len Mount scale main blades for the UH1-C.

Vario swashplate.

Len Mount tail drive system c/w couplings.

Vario metal tail rotor gearbox.

Len Mount dry transfer set for the UH1-C.

Three Futaba 9206 servos.

Futaba 601 Gyrro and 9251 servo.

Fuel, oil, fire extinguisher, fuel containers, gas, fittings, fuel tube, filters, fuel pump etc.

This is almost all you need to get the model in the air, you only need a receiver, battery pack and switch, a pair of tail rotor blades and the obvious glue, paint etc.

I would like to recover as much as I can of what I spent on the model, if you're contemplating one of these then this is your chance to save yourself some money, offers are invited.

The whole lot cost just over £6500 and its all absolutely perfect.

I will do some pictures later.

Hello policerescue230.

Are you aking me how much it would cost to post to Las Vegas or how much the helicopter is?

I have no idea what the postage cost would be, the best thing to do would be to arrange a courier of your choice in the US to collect the helicopter from me. The shipping cost would be the buyers responsibilty in my opinion.

The total cost of these items in the US would be around $11,000 although I would not be able to post the fuel or gas.

As the original post says, tell me the most you are prepared to pay for the helicopter. I am looking to sell the helicopter to someone who is seriously considering buying one of these and not someone looking for a rock bottom bargain, it all cost a lot of money and its all untouched, I'm prepared to lose a bit but not a huge amount.

Matthew.

Hello policerescue620,

They don't come up for sale like this very often, it would cost about $11,000 in the US and £6500 here in the UK. What someone is prepared to pay for it I don't know. If you were just about to order one from Len Mount or Starwood Scale Models then I guess you might be prepared to pay more for it than someone who just wanted it because it was cheap.

Matthew.

So if he paid 6500 BP and he's selling it at a massive loss what's the price? I didn't see a price listed?

I think Rob is assuming that nobody is going to offer anything remotely close to what I paid for it, a massive loss depends on your point of view and the depth of your wallet I suppose.

Well Matt I would be highly interested in making a offer but unfortunately being the BP is so high to the dollar and shipping across the pond would be outrageous, I'm afraid most US folks would be out of the running.. Good luck in the sale, it is a beautiful project..

The helicopter costs roughly the same in the UK and the US so the exchange rate is pretty much irrelevant. It would be around $11,000 new in the US. You can make an offer that is less than $11,000 including the shipping and it may be enough for me, how much do you need to save to make it attractive?

Well brand new here in the states from Starwood Scale it's priced as..

Huey Fuse for turbine $2056
Turbines Mechs $1560
PJW-LE SW (the new one with the machined wheel way more powerful than the R) $5231
Total $8,847..

That's alot less than $11,000

Now I know you've got some other goodies in there too but not 3 grand worth and then I gurantee shipping will be high.. For a fuse alone from Len without all the weight of the turbine and mechs it's around $175..

$8847 is only $2153 less than $11,000, not $3000 and I did say around $11,000.

The rotorhead and washout is $590.49, then there is the swashplate at $122.20, the tail rotor drive and gearbox $401.52, the blades at $295.18, the exhaust at $225.00, the instrument panel at $144.00, the transfers at $153.00. The servos and gyro must be $650 and then there are all the other little bits and pieces that would be at least $300 probably a lot more if I could be bothered to work it out exactly. I have priced this up using the prices for the Vario rotorhead and blades although my model has the more expensive Len Mount rotorhead, washout unit and blades.

These extra parts add up to $2751.39.

Using your total of $8847 and adding the above equals $11598.39 which is more than $11,000.

The turbine was perfectly capable of flying the helicopter last year and it still is this year. If anyone is that bothered it can be uprated to the more powerful model at its first service at minimal cost. Its not necessary to fly the model but I guess some people just have to have the latest spec.

Shipping costs when you get to a package this size are calculated on a volumetric basis as the weight is largely a secondary consideration so I don't think you will find that the shipping costs with all the other parts will not exceed the cost of the fuselage alone by too much.

I thought it might be in order for me to make it clear that I am not expecting anybody to offer to pay me $11,000 or £6,500 for this helicopter.

All that I am after is for someone who genuinely wants one of these to tell me how much they can afford or are wiiling to pay for the model.

Obviously the offer will need to be somewhere between $0 and $11,000, if its enough for me then you get the helicopter.

I absolutely guarantee that the buyer will not be disappointed, if you got it and thought that it was not brand new then I would refund your money.

I should also clarify that the PJW-R is more than adequate for this model, these turbines have flown larger and heavier models than the Huey, the extra rpm and power of the uprated models would not be really usable in this model as it is designed to run at a 900 rpm headspeed, you wouldn't want a higher headspeed and as long as sufficient pitch can be pulled to fly all the manouvers you need to what good is more power?

So what's wrong with this? I thought this was a helicopter that people would like to own and the chance to have one that has not been touched is pretty unique. I know it cost a lot of money new but I haven't even said how low I'm prepared to go with it. Is it really worth nothing at all?

I am prepared to split this up if there is enough interest in the individual parts, tell me what parts you would like and your best offer.

I have had a couple of offers that were not really acceptable to me so perhaps I should say what I am prepared to accept.

The price in the UK is £5,000 collected.

The price in the US is $8,500, I will construct a suitable shipping crate, buyer arranges shipping.

I think this is enough of a discount for what is a genuinely brand new helicopter.

After a re-think I am prepared to reduce the price a little, £4,750 in the UK collected, $8,000 elsewhere with buyer to arrange their own shipping. Its as low as I can force myself to go with it, its a great buy at the price.

The helicopter is no longer for sale, interest in the model is virtually non-existent so I may as well keep it as I can't be bothered with mucking around and indecision. Thanks to the few who expressed an interest anyway and sorry I couldn't bring myself to sell at an acceptable price, its just too much money for me to cope with giving away.
