'm up in the air about it at this time. Depends on just HOW HOT it's
going to be.
Quick hint from past years: They don't call it the Heatwave because you are going to get cold . . . . . Cooked to death, maybe, but not cold. Having said that, as I recall, the field has a lot of roofing over the tables, so shade is not too hard to find.

(Nuts - rckrzy1 - just noticed that you are in Hurst - sorry for "preaching to the choir" as it were . . . .

Heat!!
Yes it will be hot and looks as though mother nature will make sure the thermostat is turned up. At least it will live up to its name. AND YES!! the misting tent will be there. Hopefully the weekend of the event will be a dry heat as that tent works pretty well when it is. Also if you have a canopy be sure to bring it as we have shelters but not enough for everybody. Bring the sunscreen as well. Also look at it this way, the Heatwave fills the dry spell (pun intended) between funflies.

We will have some good things going on at the event. Mike Goza will be doing the drawings for all the F3A heli raffles that he has been collecting all year. So come, buy tickets and you may win some real nice stuff.

Also Century was kind enought to donate a Hawk Pro 50 for the raffle and I believe that Ron Lund will be holding a Hawk autorotation contest with some prizes. I am not for sure about all the details as Century called to let me know all this. I have not had a chance to talk to Ron yet.

Thanks Will Campbell

Heliheatwave
Has anyone got an advance look at the weather this coming weekend, besides being HOT, and where can you get some directions from Dallas to get to the Heli heatwave? The last time I was there a helicopter crashed and burned up part of the field east of the flying sight!

How to get there

This is a better map to the field. Once you get to Hwy 377 in Benbrook, you will go south. You will go past a big elementary school on your right. Go past the light and look quickly to your left for a big sign that says Benbrook Lake, that is Stevens dr. Take the left there and then take the second left on to Lakeview Dr. Just follow the road around the lake to the flying site.

We will try not to burn down the field this year though it has given us some great pictures over the year.

The weather forecast is mid-nineties. Breeze will be present (10-15mph). It shouldn't be too bad (from a Texas in July perspective).

I'll be out Sat and Sun.

Camping
Some have asked whether they could camp at the field or not. I have informed the Lake Manager and all will be OK for that so if you have an RV, trailor, etc. you should be fine.

Well that's a little late. CRAP, my RV is 100 miles away. Are you sure they are not talking about using the campgrounds that are at
the lake ? Is the gate being locked at sundown?

Tim,

You're right, it wasn't fun at all here in Houston yesterday. It hasn't been any better today either, and the weekend isn't looking too promising for that matter.

Well, if you can find a way to send some rain up here to me, I will gladly take it! There has been some in the area, but I am next to the DFW airport, and they keep showing rainfalls of "0.00" everytime it rains. My yard, where the sprinklers can't hit it, has 1/2" cracks in it - it looks like the surface of the moon! Texas, feast or famine, gotta love it! (or not . . . ).

Friday
Friday went well at the field and we all had a good time. Won't be putting up the misting tent. The humidity is so high it won't do any cooling.

Here it is the 3rd driest in 110 years and it rains this weekend. I am thankful as it did take the edge off of today.

Hope to see you at the event.
