I'm new to electric but from my reading iv'e gathered that you should never charge lipo's indoors or unattended. So what's the best way. how long will it take to recharge a 2000mah pack like in my T-rex. I have a tp425 charger an what to use for power source car batt?

It looks like a 12v battery is your only option. I charge my packs on the porch (ac charger) with the packs in a tin can, just in case. I also check them every 10 min. or so to make sure there is no swelling or over heating.
Good quality packs should give you little problems.
My charger goes about 35-40 min to charge a 1800mah pack.

Just remember -- if the world didn't suck, we would fall off.

Lipo Charging
I read about someone who uses one of those "Jumper Batterys" that you can purchase from auto supply houses. He wired his Lipo charger into it. Sounds like a good idea and it would be portable. At home I use an AC power supply and charge my Lipos outside in a metal can.

I charge my 11.1v lipo at home indoor with a charger came alonge with the lipo.
I just place the lipo on the floor during the charging.

I check the LED on the charger from time to time and stop charging when the LED turns to green from orange.
Normally it takes about 1.5 hours to charge this 1200mah lipo.

1000mA = 1A.

Lipos are charged in 2 phases. The first phase is constant current charging and charges at the programmed rate, typically 1C, but less is OK too. Once the battery voltage reaches 4.2V per cell charging switches to the second phase. In the seconds phase the voltage is limited to 4.2V per cell and the current is reduced as needed to avoid going over this voltage.

Because of the gradual reduction of charge current that goes on during phase 2, the actual time to fully charge a lipo is longer than 1 hour, even if you program a 1C charge rate. Typically a 1C charge takes about 85 minutes to complete if the battery was completely empty. A 1/2C charge takes about 140 minutes to complete (it's not double because of the way the current changes in phase 2).
